Fake ID taken!!!!!!!

Ok, so I saw that someone else already has a post with almost the exact same situation, but I have slightly different questions...

First, please don't tell me that I'm stupid and careless and *** was I thinking.. I'm already freaking out and feel like the stupidest person on the planet, so I don't need to hear it anymore. I just want advice and stories from your experiences.

So basically, I was visitng my friends at UCSB over the weekend. I had a fake ID which has never been questioned so I figured of all places the UCSB college town would be no different. WRONG! I went into the albertsons and after 2 seconds of looking at my ID, the cashier told me it was fake (I still have no idea how he could tell). He called his manager over, but I denied that it was fake. He wouldn't give it back and said the only way to get it back was to have the cops come and determine that it is real and then give it back, and of course I didn't want that, so I left.

After talking to a lot of people, they have all said that they have heard of tons of people that had their fakes taken there and nothing ever came of it. However, I have heard of one instance where the girl was contacted like 8 months later about a court date, but she lived in SB and went to UCSB.

So I guess here is my question. The cops didn't come while I was there, so first, they really have no proof that it was me that used the fake. I could have lost my ID in SB and someone else could have tried to use it, right? haha Second, I'm a little nervous because it has my real information on it (Some people say thats stupid, but at least this way I can't get charged with identity theft or anything). Since I am from orange county and don't even go to UCSB, I'm thinking my chances of anything coming from this are slim. I just want to know if this has happened to anyone else who did or didn't live in SB and what the situation was?

Everyone keeps telling me that the chances of the albertsons turning in my ID are slim, and even if they do, cops have better things to do than track down every person who has used a fake ID. Even though my real info is on it, I'm thinking that since they didnt come to the scene, they don't really know if I used it or someone else did, and even if they think it was me, I'm far away from SB and they'd have to track me and deal with cops and **** down here, so I feel like thats not worth their time.

What do yall think? Am I screwed? How long do they have to actually do something about it? I heard a year. I'm just so freaking scared. I'm usually such a goody two-shoes and of course the one time I actually do something bad, I get caught. I really don't know what to do or expect.... I was even thinking of calling the albertsons to cry and apologize. hahahahaha

PLEASE let me know if you have any stories/advice/same situations or anything!!!!

it’s albertsons, not a club…if you didnt purchase any alcohol, you’re fine

that said, it’s still a misdemeanor that’ll get you in a ton of trouble, so keep your eyes out

You’re screwed.

Enjoy life in Mexico.

I have the distinction of having both worked at albertsons and gotten my fake id taken away at albertsons (albeit the one by UCI if you know what I’m talking about), and I wouldn’t worry about it. They’ll probably just throw it in the trash, and for future reference all grocery stores near college campuses are much more strict since so many kids try and use fakes there. In the very remote case that they do try and prosecute you, you’ll get the equivalent of an MIP, not too big of a deal.

Don’t count on “no proof,” always assume you’re on a security camera. (Likewise, don’t post anything online thinking your parents/school administrators/potential employers aren’t reading it…but that’s another story.)

I guess what I’m wondering more though is have any of you had this experience? Like do they usually turn fakes in and if they do, how often do they actually do anything about it since it’s after the fact and no one was called when it actually got taken away. And if they do turn it in, how long do they have to actually do something about it if they chose to? Like I have honestly learn my lesson and believe it or not but I was actually really sketched out about buying it in the first place. I just made a very stupid mistake. I’m just trying to see what my chances are of something coming from it after the fact or if it is a big lesson learned with a slap on the wrist.

got mine taken at ralphs in newport and nothing came of it! dont stress, even better that you live in a different county.
