Just out of curiousty any of you guys heard about the MEMP program at Duke , and hows UCI in everyone's opinion????

hey piku

i am accepted into UCI's CS master program as well, and all my professors speak fairly high of its program.

Nevertheless, for my interests, A.I., especially in neural networks, intelligent agents, multi-agent systems, and machine learning. Its doesn't seem to be a good match.

However, if you are interested in data mining, UCI has plenty of professors in that field.

edit how did you find out about the funding info? did you contact them personally?

Amalee,

I'm also quite impressed. Poli Sci PhD's are known to be insanely competitive, with hundreds of qualified applicants vying for about a dozen spots. Congratulations!

I for one, am hoping that masters programs in Poli Sci aren't as bad, cause they is probably where I'm headed...

hey soccer ,

well I did email the faculty contact on my acceptance letter , and he said well you are admitted with NO aid. Havent recevied my acceptance packet yet so dont really know.

Hey mollie,
That is simply super! Everything looks like it's falling into place for the two of you. Congratulations!

Thanks! :D We're super-excited. We get to be rich!

Sigh. I wish I'd get at least one year of my life where I'm not hours away from my significant other.

Of course, if we were both smart, we'd get to choose our schools...sigh. But hey, you work with what you've got, I suppose! :p

Congrats Mollie!

UCLAri, I was 2 hours away from my fiancee my last year of school, so I know how it is. But, it isn't as bad as a friend of mine who is in a different COUNTRY than his wife due to immigration nightmares. They get to spend their first anniversary chatting via IM and a webcam.

NJBeaglemom,

I've been apart from my girlfriend (now of 7 years)...

45 minutes while in my first year of undergrad
in Japan for 6 months
then 45 minutes again for a year and a half
then in DC for 3 months
then a year in Japan again
and now 3 hours apart for two more years

The best part? We're guaranteed to be apart again after I graduate, as my job prospects are in DC (State Dept.) Life is grand when the universe hates your relationship.
