Novaswim, I'm froma NOVA too :)

im in georgia and got my OOS waiver and acceptance letter today(12/22/08)

are there certain statistics necessary to get an OOS waiver, or does it just depend on the individual? i have a 30 ACT and top 15% of my class (but not top 10%)

I just received my acceptance today with a small scholarship, instate

DD just received her acceptance today. No mention of OOS waiver, but a very nice scholarship. No mention of Calhoun either (was it a different application??, I don't recall)

Calhoun was a different application. And what was the scholarship? Because I thought the only scholarships they gave before march was the OOS waiver. Was the scholarship worth $56,000 total?

Yes, it was worth $56,000 total. The letter used the word scholarship, but I realize now it makes the tuition equivalent to instate.

The next question then is do they release scholarship info before May 1?

I'm about 95% sure they release additional scholarships by May 1. If I am not mistaken the deadline to put down an enrollment deposit is May 1 so I am sure they want you to have an idea of your scholarship amount before you enroll. I think they said most decisions would come in late March.

DD got her acceptance letter today...with scholarship $$!!! Essentially, the OOS was waived, plus a bit more. Letter mentioned that addition $$ could come in the spring. Super exciting!! This is the last one we were waiting for and her first choice.

^ CONGRATS!

Do you mind posting her stats? OOS here and we're hoping to get the waiver next year.

4.0 GPA; SAT: 680 Math, 660 CR, 650 Writing

All Gifted coursework, 7 AP's

Clemson actually does superscore SAT's, taking the best of your math and critical reading scores. A friend of mine in admissions let me know that students that hear early are usually shoo ins for scholarships, which have a minimum requirement of 31 ACT/1350 SAT, and a top 10% class ranking. hope this helps!

I applied in early December, is there any way I will hear back before mid-February? I'm in-state

Oh wait, it says apply by Dec. 15 to find out by Mid-Feb so I logged in and turns out I applied Nov. 14th, thats good news for me lol. Alot of ppl at my school, (45 minutes from Clemson), say that they usually tell you before Mid-February, anyone know when they typically tell of RD acceptances?

That's good news for you Josh. Where do you live? I'm in Greenville.

I live in Greenwood, Greenville is nice, I got into Furman but I don't think I will be going there.

Can I dely them reviewing my app until I get back my Jan SAT scores?

You could email them and ask them to but I'm not sure how that works

I doubt it.

A good amount of kids from my school want to go to Furman. I don't see what the attraction is.

Furman has a really nice campus and good academics but its size is a turn off for me, some ppl prefer smaller schools tho. I see myself more likely to go to USC or Clemson because they are big schools and that is the atmosphere I like most.
