Hello all. The window for ED applicants (4-6 weeks after the deadline) opens tomorrow 3/28. If you got all of your materials in you can start expecting a decision soon. From what I read in past threads, acceptances will come by FedEx and might be accompanied by a phone call. Good luck to everyone and post when you get your decision.

Just took the GSAE on Sunday. Let the deep-down anxiety and subconscious stress of waiting kick into full gear!

I took it back in mid-February so all my info has been in for some time now. Hope they get back to me soon no matter the decision. The wait is killing me

I’m with you there :)

So what’s the earliest anyone has received their decision for EA fall (excluding science po)? In going through the GS forum it looks April 1st. Would taking the GSAE on March 27th really delay being notified by a couple of weeks? I would love to know by April 1st. Highly unlikely though, right? I know that its supposedly done on a “rolling basis,” so should I expect 2-4 weeks from GS receiving my GSAE scores?

Also, how long after you take the GSAE does it show up on your online application status as being taken? Test scores aren’t posted right? I think I also faintly remember hearing that you can’t call to find out how well/poorly you did.

Finally, not sure how anyone would know this, but is there a certain order that they notify applicants? I first assumed that they did it in the order that they were received or were considered completed, but it also seems like they notify the applicants that they want the most, first. Any reason to the rhyme?

Since you took the GSAE this past weekend I would say it is unlikely that you will get a decision this week, unless you had a really strong application otherwise. I don’t think it will set you back 4 weeks though. I’ve had all my stuff in for over a month now so I hope I get a decision either way soon so I can start planning.

For those of you that took the GSAE, were you instructed to do so or did you just feel it was necessary?

Goodluck to everyone!

By the way, I’ve read on here that students have been able to call fedex before hand and get info on whether or not they have a package heading towards them. Is this true? And, if so, how do you go about doing that lol?

I’d imagine some of you will be getting phone calls tomorrow.

I guess just give FedEx a call and give it a try. Say you lost the tracking number or something

Just read that if you call FedEx and give them the approximate shipping date, your address and the address it originated from you might be able to do it

Baxter: Waiting 'til the end of April would be tough. Not just anxiety-wise, but, like you said, I need to start planning. I keep delaying some pretty important decisions as I wait. (Nobody’s fault but my own of course). Thanks for the FedEx tip. I noticed that a good number of those accepted said that it came via Next Day Air, so calling every day would be bad for my health. Haha! At least checking this forum daily relieves some stress.

Hellojan: Tomorrow? I’m excited for those people! Hopefully the next couple of weeks fly by.

Phillyman: The GSAE is required if an applicant doesn’t have an ACT or SAT score from the last 8 years. I dropped out of HS sophomore year, so I have neither.

Or you could be especially brazen and call GS and ask if they have made a decision yet. If you do, let me know how it turns out.

I truly hope if anyone does decide to call Columbia that they write on this forum!

I am somewhat tempted to call because I sent in some supporting documents and I want to see if they got there. If they happen to tell me if I got in or not, that would be great too!

I think you should start off by asking about your documents and then ask when you should expect a decision…

I think I will give it some time, but if anyone else want to give it a try I think it is a great idea

I was in the admissions office yesterday for ten minutes. I think three people called asking about decisions.

I can say with some confidence that the receptionist is not going to tell whether or not you’ve gotten in.

Well if you happen to be in the admissions office for the next 2 days let us know if you hear them making acceptance calls

If I haven’t been contacted for an interview at this point even though I applied in late February, does that mean I’ve been rejected? Please give me some perspective on this-I think I’m going to go crazy. Also, has anyone heard of anyone getting accepted without an interview?

I think many people are accepted without interviews. From the GS website:

“Interviews, although not generally required, are sometimes necessary to complete the review of applications and in such cases are requested by members of the Admissions Committee.”

I don’t think there’s anything to be worried about yet, although I’m right there with you. I’ve been dreaming that I wake up with a missed call from an unknown number for the past three nights.
