A little OT news to help stop obsessing over phone calls and fedexs for a bit: So last night at my CC’s campus awards, I was recognized for being nominated to Who’s Who of Colleges and Universities. I read up on this and found that unlike the high school versions, a college faculty committee actually noms you, so it’s a bit more legit. Any of my lovely fellow GSapps out there heard of this?

seems like a majority of those that heard were military/international. right? I’m hoping some of us get the good news soon. My high school didnt send my transcripts until mid March but I hope that doesn’t slow things down. Good luck all. Consider this the easy part. I mean, if we get accepted we have to figure out how, and if, we are going to pay. lol.

I agree Fly, that $500 deposit has a sting to it. I was surprised though, my best friend got into Roanoke and theirs is $800, so I guess we’re not all that bad off when we get our notice.

Also, I wonder if they are notifying internationals/mils first by order of complete processing and then domestic non-mils? Such an odd process.

I received my acceptance on March 30th and I’m non-military and live in New Jersey. Probably no rhyme or reason to the process :-)

Good luck to all who wait anxiously!

Campaigner, thanks a ton for the information!

Congrats to all who made it in, I look forward to working with you all. To those who are anxiously waiting: Don’t get discouraged, it’s far from over.

@ afazchas - Congratulations on your nomination. I’m unfamiliar with this particular award, but it sounds like a great honor considering the faculty’s involvement in selecting the nominees.

@afazchas: Congrats! I received that “award” a couple of times while attending my CC. You’re lucky that your school takes the time to hold an award ceremony – in my case I didn’t know I was awarded until my colleagues at the Phi Theta Kappa office did an office cleanup and found the award certificates in a stack of other awards.

I just got the call that I’ve been admitted! Very excited… but now for the financial stuff. Good luck to all still waiting.

Got the call this morning; I’m in!

congrats guys!!! can you log into financial aid??

Wow, everybody’s getting in so far! Congratulations to all of you! Maybe if you guys don’t mind sharing your stats and stories, those of us who are still waiting might get a better idea of how optimistic or pessimistic to be.

congrats to everyone else who’s gotten in!
to those who haven’t heard back yet, relax. there truly is no rhyme or reason to the notification process (and if there is, they’re keeping it under wraps!)

very much looking forward to visiting the campus for APS and orientation (and then classes, of course). i’ll be moving up from Florida, so i’ve got my work cut out for me figuring out housing, etc.

@jmlstern: Congrats! When are you attending an APS? I’m doing the one on June 26!

Small world. I’m also going on the 26th!

Were you assigned an academic advisor? I’m still waiting to be assigned. I hope my advisor can meet with me on the 27th since I’m leaving on the 28th. #excited

No advisor yet; I’m also waiting to be assigned one.

Did they invite you to join Storybook? I’m still waiting for that, too.

I got accepted! Received a phone call on the 17th.
Has anyone received any news from the scholarship committee(financial aid)?

Hi everyone,
I’m a little late getting into this thread, but I am really desperate for information about credit transfer and financial aid. I’m coming from a cc in NJ and really hope they match my scholarship packet from Drew U.

@fox: no, haven’t been invited to join Storybook. apparently the invite comes within the first couple of weeks after they receive your acceptance form. you need a columbia email address to do all that and they don’t give you one until after they receive your acceptance form and tuition deposit.

@sbmoody: when you get in, they call you and will offer their phone number should you have any questions. i was in a similar situation: i had been accepted to NYU the day before and they said that a certain number of credits would transfer (a lot) and so i told the person who called me from columbia that i needed to know how many columbia would take. that EVENING i was given the information. they took just about the same number of credits as NYU, thus my decision to choose columbia.
