I know it's early, but I'm positive that there are other potential USC students, besides me, who are waiting to apply as a transfer student for the Fall 2012 semester.

YESS!! I was waiting for someone to start this =]

The Common Application for USC just opened today. I’m filling out what I can now…already pretty nervous >.<

I wish you good luck.

I’m currently a sophomore at CSULB. I remember applying to USC for my freshman year, with no luck. I’m hoping that this time will be different, although I doubt it. =

I wish us both luck, haha.

Why, what are your stats?

Horrible. Just horrible. I’ll just post my college stats since I doubt high school stats matter when it comes to transfer applicants.

First semester: 3.00 GPA
Second semester: 3.22 GPA
Cumulative: 3.087 GPA

I regret skipping those two easy GE classes. If I didn’t skip so much, my first semester GPA would’ve probably been 3.40. I’m hoping to raise that GPA in time for USC to see it (probably not though).

I’m a member in the AIAA student org on campus. And for engineering, there’s a group called “e-LIFE” that stands for leaders in freshmen engineering. I’m also a member there. I’ll most likely be a “mentor” for the new freshmen members in the upcoming year.

How are your stats? I’ll bet anything that they’re way better than mine.

Well i’m in a weird situation. USC has already offered me Acceptance during my senior year of HS but said it was for the 2012 year because they ran out of space. So technically im no transfer student but i sort of am. They told me to go to a college for a year and fulfill their transfer courses and gave me a contract and conditions to meet. So i’m sure you all have to do those group things like I, II,… and so on. But what also is on the list is having a GPA above 3.3. Not to get anyones hopes down. But if you dont have anything above that then you’re probably not getting in.

Above a 3.3 GPA? If I did my calculations right, if I’m anything short of a 3.625 GPA this semester, them I’m not getting into USC. I can’t let this stop me though. I have to still try.

Edit: And you were already offered acceptance for the 2012 school year? That’s strange. I thought USC doesn’t defer admissions.

It is very strange, but it is what it is. Good luck to you though! Fight on!

^ I don’t think it was guaranteed admission. I think they asked you to be part of the Trojan Transfer Plan where they ask seniors in high school who are legacies at USC to apply as a transfer in hopes of getting in. As long as you maintain a 3.5 your chances are pretty good.

The letter I got specifically said accepted for fall 2012 term and I’ve met with the counselors and everything. All I need is above 3.3 GPA

Hey, sorry for getting back so late. :(

First semester: 3.8

Second semester I couldn’t attend school because of financial issues, but I had an opportunity to go abroad so I’m hoping that it works in my favor.

I’m expecting at minimum a 3.8 this upcoming semester. Most of my classes are easy G.E.s, and the only truly challenging one for me is College Algebra, but math has always been my weak point.

It’s a huge improvement from my high school years (2.9 GPA! >_<), so I’m hoping my continuing upward trend, as well as my ECs, works in my favor…let’s hope.

@Rdakker - You’re a legacy? Dang. You’re so lucky. The closest relation I have with USC is that my dad has connections with their on-campus Catholic church.

@gousc92 - Great job on the 3.8 GPA! Good luck with that college algebra class. I remember last semester, I had to take calculus II because I’m an aerospace engineer major. That class was just horrible. It got so bad that I had to withdraw from the class. I’m retaking it this fall semester. Anyways, like I said, good luck with that college algebra class.

I’m not a legacy

@Rdakker - Are you going to head to a nearby CC then? Seems like a pretty awesome and solid opportunity.

I’ll be applying for Fall 2012 as well. Got rejected last year and my stats in college were

Fall : 3.1
Winter : 3.4
Spring : 3.7

Averages out to around a 3.33 because some were 4 unit classes and some were 5.

Best of luck to everyone applying. I’ll be following this thread closely this year.

@ragingzero - Good luck to you, too. What do you think got you rejected last year?

I would say my GPA. I don’t have much Extra curricular besides sports. I know a few people who transferred from my current school with 3.7’s and up. I even appealed but it didn’t work out.

@ gousc92 - Nah, I got into UCSC santa cruz, i’ll be headed there for a year to get a 3.3 though it might be a little tougher since its a UC. However i’m determined to get into USC so i’ll study hard to get well above a 3.3

im also applying for fall 2012,
Fall 2010-3.0
Spring-2.52
Summer-4.0, took 3 classes, 1 W, and 2 A’s
Fall 2011-4.0
Cumulative Gpa:3.24

i know the grades arent stellar, but how important are grade trends and do i have a shot
applying for either econ or clas

That 2.52 GPA isn’t going to bode well, upward trend or not. Most students can swing/explain a 2.9 or even a 2.8, but a 2.5 is pretty hard to ignore.

Also, Fall 2011 hasn’t happened yet, so…?
