I was kind of hoping for an acceptance here so that I’d know for sure. For me its between USC and LMU. Best of luck Oascha.

@khumdawn

Yea, as bad as that sounds, I agree.

@oascha

Hopefully I’ll get accepted off the waitlist to Middlebury, but if not, I’m not sure.

rejected.
3.9 gpa
4.6 in high school
2260 sat
great recs
decent interview.

I got placed on the reserved list, I’m thinking about doing it if the financial aid still applies.

@heartmonster
@oldmitch

It looks like the “successful” candidates were waitlisted this year; what do you guys think set your applications apart? I know they’re big on leadership, are you guys Navy Seals/presidents of a foreign country? Frankly, I don’t get it.

accepted
3.4 GPA
33 ACT
Anyone else accepted know what we should do from here?

Accepted! 3.8 out of Cornell University. Currently deciding between CMC, Brown, Wesleyan and Georgetown. Big decisions to make!

Tricia can you explain your circumstances a little more, I’m too curious! and of course congrats! Oh and what to do, financial aid I’d assume. Then look into transfer assimilation programs, CMC is a really tight-knit college so anything would likely help get you into the “flow” of things. Then, housing options. All this you’ll get in the mail I’d assume.

Haha. I’m not sure. I accepted my spot in the list but I doubt I’ll hear anything back after June 1. My numbers were comparable with the rest above. I did spend a great amount of time on my essays. Maybe that’s what did it? Who knows.

I hope you get in, send some new LORs, a “Letter of continued interest,” and politely check-up on your status every few days or so. It worked for me at my current school! Good luck.

um well I transferred from mount holyoke. I know that my GPA isn’t exactly that high, so I was pretty surprised when i got accepted. I am very excited regardless :)

@DJ

Thanks for the information. I’ll be sure to heed your advice.

Accepted as a Neuroscience major.
4.0 GPA from a California community college. 4.3 high school GPA.
Member of many clubs & honor societies. Lots of extracurriculars (hospital volunteering being one).
Really good essays and I would assume (hopefully) great recommendations.
One thing that probably made me stand out was that I attended a Neuroscience summer program at the University of Cambridge in England.

I visited CMC the other day and it was nice, but I’m still undecided :/

Accepted
3.1 GPA (4.0 in h.s.)
2200 SAT
H.S. student government leader
NCAA swimmer
Great essays (I think), great recommendations

Future transfer students: it’s not all about GPA! your odds of getting in are helped by being involved in school communities wherever you are. CMC especially likes athletes (being one apparently made them ignore my GPA)

Good advice! I swam varsity in high school, its been a good two years since. I think I could compete at DIII levels still however. Do you think its worth amending my application? (My application is currently ‘under review.’) I don’t remember any sports section to the common app…

@DJRicoTico

haha no XD

I applied with a 3.9 GPA, 1950 SAT

My HS GPA was pretty crappy comparatively to everyone else here, but my hs was an incredibly academically intense school so my gpa from my hs compared to others would be weighed differently.

This is my second time applying so they had my previous application I am assuming. I also have done a social justice oriented internship and in my essays it was clear that I did extensive research on the school and what it offered. I was very concrete what I wanted and how CMC fulfilled the needs that my current school lacks. I would also argue that I am a pretty solid writer, so maybe that intrigued them. Who knows?

I am planning to contact them again regarding what I should do to supplement my application. Wish me luck!

Edit:
There is an athletic section in the Common App under ‘future plans’. Maybe that will help you?

I wonder how many people are placed on the Alt. List.

This is just a guess, but from the last two years not all their transfers enrolled. They’ll probably be 3-5 spots open for the applicants on the alt. list. At least it’s a small chance.

@djricotico

I don’t think it would be worth it to amend your application at this point - if you’re sticking in swimming as an afterthought it would be obvious that you don’t really see it as anything but something to pad your application. I think what really helps is having participated in a sport or another on-campus community in college, they want to know that the people they accept as transfers are going to embed themselves in the Claremont community. I think my application looked much better because I didn’t spend all my time last year doing my own thing, I dedicated 25+ hours a week to being a member of that community.

Also, D3 is no walk in the park for swimming! It would be really hard to take 2 years off and then just walk on.

Let alone the D3 swim team at CMC which is almost always at the NCAA finals and is one of the top teams in the country.

Hoping to hear good news next week.
