Fall 2013 Course Listing is Available

On MyBama in “View Only” mode. It’s probably not particularly accurate - most courses and instructors are “TBA”.

YAY! Question for the old-timers: When does Fall 2013 reg start?

Registration for classes takes place at the Bama Bound sessions.

For current students:

S got an email from his advisor saying registration opens on April 1

Here’s the schedule:

http://registrar.ua.edu/services/mystudent/registration-and-advising/summerfall-2013-registration-and-advising/

Sorry. I’ve got incoming freshman tunnel vision apparently.

Here is a link to the registration times for returning students:

[Summer/Fall 2013 – Registration and Advising | The Office of the University Registrar - The University of Alabama](http://registrar.ua.edu/services/mystudent/registration-and-advising/summerfall-2013-registration-and-advising/)

Is this time of registration according to overall credits earned or UA credits earned?

It was based on overall for my S this semester. I would assume there is no change for fall.

Looking at this schedule, with my ideal classes I’d have ten minutes to get from PSC 206 to TH 220 - ten Hoor Hall to Rowand-Johnson. Looking at a map, they are literally right next to each other, is this a feasible schedule?

Piece of cake! My S makes longer trips* and is never late for his back-to-back classes. Of course, if you have questions about the material, you cannot always stay after class to linger. But the distance and time will be no problem in your case.

*emtripped: more specifically (I just looked it up), S can get from Paty to Gordon Palmer…and from Gordan Palmer to Bidgood in the 10 minutes between back-to-back classes.

This is certainly an incentive for new students to apply to the HC, and to keep your Honors designation once you get here: Notice how much of a lead time returning Honors (i.e. priority registration) students have over non-Honors students! My S can register on 4/4…his non-honors equivalent can register on 4/15.

How odd, I just had a look on DS’s mybama, looked under the academic tab, both under Registrar, then academic catalogs and banner self service then course catalogs. Both places, the latest catalog I see is Summer 2013, nothing for fall. Am I looking in the wrong place?

My son will start in fall 2013… My D attends a smaller LAC and I have never looked at her choices for classes. Don’t your kids decide what classes they are taking with their advisor or do you help them decide? I hope that my 18-21 year old is able to do this on his own…without my help…

hlsess, we are TYPE A parents!

Seriously, my S and I sat down last year to go over the course schedule and map out a plan before orientation. There are a lot of choices and he had to make some decisions on what to take AP credit for. He also did a bit of research on the professors so he knew going in which section he’d prefer to get, if possible.

There are advisors at orientation but your student is likely to get 20 minutes max with one, after which your student will register himself. Registration comes at the end of BB, where kids may be tired from travelling, the long day of events beforehand, and the excitement and nerves of the new situation. A little prep is a good thing!

Ok. I am sure it is overwhelming… I am already not looking forward to such a BIG school. But all of you seem to LOVE UA so I am sure That he will also. He is not in Honors and I do hear that it will be just fine…
