Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

I got accepted into U-Mich, COE!!!

Congratulations, Kevinsalee! When and how did you find out?

Thank you. I got an email at around 11~12, this morning.

I called LSA again and got redirected to the lady in charge of transfer admissions, she said they will make decisions till the end of April so I guess sit tight anyone who is waiting

@kevinsalee, congratulations!

@toofast, end of April?? Are you sure?? I think both their website and phone said all results would be out by early April…

What if I forgot to declare my academic interest in the application. Will it lower my chance?

Hey everybody -

Right now, I’m at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, MI. I’m taking 22 credits this semester, another 15 in the summer, and finally another 22 in the fall, giving me a total of 59 to transfer into a 4-year university in the spring. My high school GPA is a 3.5 and my ACT is a 33.

My main target school is UofM. The M-POD (Michigan transfer program at WCC) coordinator and I have planned out my courses so that I will completely fulfill UofM’s area distribution requirements for LSA, and I’ll satisfy the writing, language, and any other requirements as well. Every one of my credits is going to transfer over, as a course for course equivalent, as opposed to departmental credits.

Right now, the only class that it looks like I may not get an A in is Economics, but that’ll be an A- at worst. Everything else will be A’s and I’m going to step it up over the next couple of months to maintain a 3.9whatever.

I’m looking to transfer in as a Mathematics/Econ double major. Would the A- this semester in Intro to Economics hurt me if I got an A in Econ II? Also, I’ll have completed Calc I, II, and III, and Differential Equations by the time I transfer.

Please let me know what you think. Any help is really appreciated.

I just checked my wolverineaccess and right there I see, ACCEPTED. So happy! Best of luck to everyone else who applied.

MSAADB!!! Congratulations!!! Welcome to Ann Arbor, my friend!

Lukeeduck, that is exactly the path that my son took. He was accepted last week as a transfer to the College of Engineering. He’s finishing up at WCC right now and has made good use of the M-Pod program. He followed the courses set out by WCC and UM and they have all been accepted as credit.

I’m sure that an A- won’t hurt you. My son has a 3.9 GPA because of one B that he received in Calc I. He was told that since his Calc II and III grades were As, that it shows an upward trend. We sweated it out but he was accepted! (And I’ve already been M-Den shopping three times.)

Keep up the good work!

Thank you @VillageMom. Will be glad to see your son on campus, soon!

@Saad, sorry for the really late reply, yeah it is the Pakistani Students Association.

@Braja, excellent to know another Pakistani in this chat.

On another note, does any one know how long does it take to get the admission letter after getting the offer? and does it include all details about transfer credits and all OR do we have to do some thing else for that?

I got into U Mich Poli Sci or Government major (whichever it is)… I did not expect this at all. I started to fall in love with UCSD.

3.76 gpa, tons of ecs, 1650 sat…

I’m still waiting on some UCS and some Ivies. What would you guys do, UCSD or U Mich?

Michigan is the way to go if finances aren’t an issue GoToCC. UCSD’s campus experience and academics simply cannot compare(say for a few areas such as Econ, bio sciences).

Hi, I have got an offer from CSU, Fresno for CS Program? Will you please suggest me about CSU, Fresno. How good is the CS Program for MS? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

@gotocc are you applying as a freshman or sophomore, like would you be a sophomore in fall 2013? cause i was wondering did you turn in only your first quarter grades or your winter quarter grades too? I am also at a UC.

@GoToCC Hey, I am also transferring from a California CC here. Congrats for getting into UMich. Did you submit your SAT score to them?
I also major in Poli Sci; I’d say go for UMich over UCSD but you should visit Ann Arbor first lol

MSaadB, we live near UM so our mail delivery experience might be different than yours. But my son’s admission letter and packet arrived about one week after he learned online about his acceptance. It did not contain any information about transfer credit. That was emailed to him about a week after the packet arrived. Yesterday he received an email about housing (though he’s going to live at home for a while).

Got admitted!

International student in VA, GPA 3.89, Chemistry major, 99TOEFL(meet each minimum) Few activities, essays (I would say bad, I am the only one who read them, and there was a obvious mistake at the end of the essay, I wrote"…help building…" Found out after I submitted) Anyway, accepted into LSA! I think the strength of my app is I will have a AS from CC, and 71 credits…

Really wanna go (but the tuition fee is expensive), and still waiting for another one. Good luck to those who are still waiting!! And thanks those who answered my question and shared their stat’ previously !!
