Can someone make this clear? What confirmations? I know a person who got admitted to GS for Fall 13 and she said that she got nothing but a fedex package in the mail. Has anyone actually received a confirmation that their application is under review? Also they haven’t updated the payment status on my tracker but when I called they said they can see that I paid. Is there anyone else here who is having the same problem?

Hey I am also an early applicant and I have called admissions numerous times to see if they made a decision and why I did not receive an email that my application is under review. What they said is that they do not send emails stating if their application is under review. That being said, they did tell me I should be getting a decision soon. Crossing my fingers!

Would like to study Economics. GS is my number one choice.
What major will you be pursuing? Did you receive a confirmation email by the way?

@h2o1991
I have not received a confirmation email. As far as the payment being reflected on the website, have you tried emailing them so they can clear it up?
The person just received a FedEx package? Without a phone interview or anything?

Did they say when those who applied for Early Action should hear back from admissions?

Yes. The person said I will definitely not get a call; rather, I will be getting a decision by mail.

@jemendez10 I “sorta” got a confirmation. I emailed admissions directly, and they responded telling me my application was reviewable. Someone previously mentioned that someone they knew was admitted and received no confirmation; I think it’s safe to say at this point that it’s not necessary. If the application is incomplete, they will let you know.

I’ve applied for the political science program, and GS is definitely my first choice. If I’m admitted, this would be the easiest decision to move 2,500 miles ever…

@jemendez10, I can confirm what @Fiatlux20 said about the notification regarding if your application was complete or not. Long story short, I thought everything was in for my application and got an email middle of last week to submit a missing part by the 21st. Luckily, it got there on time and they updated my application tracker when they received it. They specifically say in the email what they do not have AND when they need it by to still be considered for EA.

Did anyone get their acceptance package yet?

I wish! I’m dying to know if I got accepted or not. What other universities have you applied to?

A friend who applied for the gs premed just got her letter a couple of days ago, so they might be going out like, now!! I’m so anxious about it, this was my only ea application, everything else is due in june :(

I hope! I already received admission to other universities and they want me to respond to them by may 1. So I called GS and asked them what I should do since that is when I hear of my decision to GS and they told me I should be getting a decision very soon.

I wonder what their definition of “very soon” means…

I know!! This is sooo annoying. I feel like asking Columbia GS what books I’m going to need next semester haha.

From what I’ve witnessed, GS doesn’t have a set formula. Some people get notifications by email, some by phone, and some don’t receive any word till the much anticipated acceptance package or the dreaded thin envelope. As far as receiving word, I’m certain that 99.99% of the decisions go out no earlier than May 1. One month to go!

@pocketsqman why would you get the idea that decisions go out no earlier than May 1? Just curious. If I read that too seriously, please excuse my impatience. lol

@oldtransgergirl: No problemo!

Ahhh, yes. I have seen those dates on the GS site, but in previous Fall EA threads on CC, I have seen people get acceptance notifications in April. Not that I was…neurotically…searching a bunch of past…Fall EA threads…or…anything. :-B

All,

When I applied several years ago I submitted my application about a week before the EA deadline and was accepted a little over a month later. My buddy submitted his application before me and was accepted maybe two weeks after the EA deadline, but his application was way more impressive than mine. We were both notified via phone call.

Not sure if that helps but don’t stress too much.

Has anyone heard from GS yet? I am so nervous.

nope just waiting. I pass by the office everyday and I just want to walk in and ask them to give me an answer already. Anyone applied to any other universities in NYC?
