My son will be a first year this fall. So far he has not received anything this summer specifically regarding registration via email or snail mail. Online searching the First Year site, he sees that he must turn in course selections by June 23, so wondering if anyone has gotten anything yet from Notre Dame on freshman class registration? He does see a PDF format booklet online that appears to cover most everything, but it seems odd not to get any type of notice. Also, he is in the Glynn Family honors program, and the PDF course selection booklet I mentioned makes no mention of honors sections/courses that he is supposedly going to take as part of the Glynn program. No info from the Glynn program on what to do regarding registration for these honors courses. Any upperclassmen with experience in these areas--thanks in advance!

Through the FYS tab on insideND you can go to all the links on the left hand side for the course selection form and to see the large book with all the details regarding submitting the registration for first year students. Our daughter just received her packet on Thursday(we live in Montana) and she submitted her course selection form electronically on Saturday.

That being said she is not in Glynn. Our son, who is now a senior at ND, is in Glynn and the course selection process was different for him. The Glynn Students have different seminar classes to choose from and the option to select certain other classes available only to them. These are not listed in the booklet the non-Glynn students receive. If I were you, I would phone the Glynn Program today just to check what is going on.

It seems as though this year, ND is behind on getting information out in their usual timely manner.

Also, is your son on social media? Notre Dame sends out notifications as to when items are being sent out and/or when you can find them posted in your insideND page. He should have been invited to the accepted students Facebook page, and shouldfollow the Office of Housing, First Year of Studies and the Office of Admissions on Facebook and Twitter. A notification about the registration packet was sent out on those pages. Also, his ND email account. Our daughter is just getting into the habit of remembering to check her ND email more often(with prodding from me, the hovering mother)!

Thanks for all of the info! Yes, he is on social media, but I don’t know if he is connected to all of the Facebook and Twitter options you mentioned. I will suggest he call the Glynn program today- a letter he got from them in May said registration questions should go to First Year Studies since the Glynn program isn’t fully staffed over the summer. Also, I will suggest he look more closely at all tabs and links on insideND.

What does your son think of the Glynn program? The only negative seems to be that as a science intent, my son will likely not be abke to take a language freshman year despite AP English and Math credits- he will have to take those as part of Glynn. But it seems the other benefits of the program outweigh this.
