Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@Kumagron23 Early - Mid April.

@Saborak How about admissions for external OOS transfers? Does it matter if its for a competitive engineering major?.

From older threads I have seen that it is usually the COLA applicants that get the news first, and that is around the last week of March to the second week of April. Not saying all COLA applicants know first, but that is usually the case and once those start rolling out, then pretty soon the rest do too.

Last year’s thread actually shows cockrell applicants getting in first around mid april.

CNS, Nursing, and Education are usually always last to hear. Summer applicants will have priority over fall applicants though, and from what I’ve seen in older threads, you should all (summer applicants) have your answers by late April, maybe early May depending on the applicant pool.

@RedEyeJedi OOS usually hear back right before international students, because In-state transfers have priority. So you should expect mid- late april.

Last year, I didn’t hear back from Moody College of Communication until mid June! The wait was agony!

@DeeGeeErbear assuming thats because you didn’t have your 30 hours?! Mid June though?! :frowning: How is that enough time to sign up for Orientation and get everything figured out. Ugh, this is so stressful.

when you say OOS transfer do you mean a texas resident currently attending an OOS school or an out of state resident?

Right Saborak! I hadn’t completed my 30 hours, and I then submitted them in mid May. I didn’t hear back for a month because Moody had a huge applicant pool that took forever for them to roll out decisions. I heard back the earliest out of Moody last year, in the first crop of people I know of that were accepted with 30 hours completed. I signed up for the second to last orientation that was held in the beginning of August! Luckily I was an Austin resident so I lived at home for my first semester. I can’t imagine being a resident outside of Austin, that would have definitely made things harder!

MY FIRST POST HAHA (MAY 2013):
Hey I’ve been lurking for awhile now! My application has been in review now for two days, and I’m applying as a Comm PRe Public Relations Major. I’m so nervous about getting in!! Here are my credentials:

School: Texas state university
GPA: 3.84
First choice: School of Communications Pre Public Relations
Second: COLA History
3 letters of rec: one from a blinn college prof, a former UT law and business student who is now a mayor, and also a former business UT student who is a professional
2 essays, strong in my opinion
Lots of extra curriculars, plus I’m a Delta Gamma which is a sorority there at UT
Texas resident
Chances, and when can I hear back after two days??

Flashbacks are fun lol.

@txgirl9457 An out of state resident.

@DeeGeeErbear I live in San Antonio, so I’m pretty much screwed if I hear back that late. I’ll probably have to end up living at Jester or in Riverside… I was hoping to get a spot at 21 Rio but I think it’ll already be too late by then.

Did you like TxSt? It’s my back up if I don’t get into UT… A&M was my backup at first but my CC messed up with my transcript and it was late so now they won’t look at my app.

@DeeGeeErbear Hello. If you don’t mind me asking, why weren’t you accepted last year? You seem like a shoe-in; COLA History for sure…I’m sure you mentioned it in a past post but I don’t feel like digging through. Thanks!

EDIT- Sorry, nevermind! I just saw your previous post to the flashback one, heh.

Saborak: I liked Texas state! I always wanted to go there when I was little, and after I realized UT wouldn’t be my first stepping stone. It’s really close to austin, and the classes are so easy!! I’m so glad I chose TXST over UTSA. Overall, a very fun school and great experiences I had there! As far as living, don’t fret about places to live, there are plenty. The UT shuttle buses go out as far as Lake Austin! And CapMetro takes you from round rock/cedar park to campus for free as well :)

It looks like freshmen are already getting acceptances. Is that how it usually goes? Freshmen get acceptances and then they look at transfer students?

@BigDeeOT Their deadline was a couple months before ours, so most of them already know their admissions decision. That is if you’re speaking of the high school seniors applying.

Yeah, ok then cool

The freshman should already know, they all knew before March 1st… :o

Sorry to post again but doesn’t seem like anyone really knows…when is the general time that SUMMER transfers start to hear back?

@Kumagron23 I answered you on page 31. You should know Early- Mid April.
