Howdy!

The duedate for a fall semester transfer is coming up very soon.
Is anybody working on essays right now?
I have finished my SOP, but I really have a hard time to start my personaly essay(Essay E).
Do you related your issue to your major or just pick anything that important to you?
I think it would be better if the issue is related to the major that I'm going for, but can't even start it!!!

I'm aming at McCombs with GPA 3.9. Do they focus on essays a lot?

Any thought or any help?

Thanks in advance.

For my topic E, I talked about homelessness since it’s so prevalent here in San Francisco. I think 3.9 to McCombs is pretty good. I heard for transfer students they base of your admission is mainly numbers… I’m applying to COLA with a 3.7-3.8 ish I assume after my Spring semester. I’m still worried. Haha!

oh yeah, are you OOS? I heard that changes your chance of getting in to McCombs.

Hey, Thaisteak.
I’m a texas resident. My second option will be COLA. Actually UT is only school I’m applying so I need to get in UT or no school at all.

I’m still searching for a topic for the essay. LOL.

Austinlover, I really hope you proofread your essays because it doesn’t seem like you proofread what you post.

Your essay should be something that you feel passionate about. It can be about your hardships (if any), your life, things you’ve been a part of, etc.

hi msolo45,

Thanks, yes, I didn’t proofread what I post, I probably won’t do this one.
I won’t write my essay like my postings(hopefully). Thank you for your tip!

@austinlover - A 3.9 will probably get you into McCombs. If not, you are definitely in for COLA. I’m in your same position, UT or nothing.

I’m applying to COLA as an ANTH major with a 3.2. I have completed my SOP and Personal Essay, but I am also going to write the optional essay as well to explain my unique circumstances (first gen American with Guyanese parents, first college student in my family, a medical condition that kinda screwed up my high school performance, and my full time job).

My Personal Essay discussed my dedication to humanitarianism. I used the recent crisis in Haiti as an example and I also related a personal incident (the philanthropic endowments my parents received as immigrants) as a way to make it more meaningful.

Whatever issue you choose, I’ve heard that it is a good idea to try to relate it back to your intended field of study. If you can use a personal example to further illustrate your point, that’s even better!

If you would like, I can send you my essays :)

You got to love the feeling of writing yet a few more admissions essays when you thought you were done, huh?

I’m applying as a transfer to UT as well. First choice COLA as a History major.
