Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

I have a 3.44 GPA but I have been convicted of a couple war crimes would that affect my acceptance ?

@Outerhaven Can’t tell if you are being serious or not…

@Outerhaven L-M-F-A-O!!! You got me in tears. :)) I think I know what army you served in though, if true lol. Ok people, back to serious talk.

I hate chance posts as much as the next guy, but as my username implies I will die if i don’t get in

One year Transfer

UCLA is an amazing place with extraordinary faculty and students, it would be honor to join the bruin family.

Admitted: UCSC
Denied: UCSB (Missing two Pre reqs)
Pending: UCLA, UCD, UCB, UCSD

@rob3gd You laugh at people because they count the days differently than you? I laugh at people who almost forget that its almost decision time.

Thank you @apocalypso! Best wishes to you.

@UCorDie You got rejected from UCSB with a 4.0 GPA and seemingly awesome ECs?? o.o That’s crazy! I would think UCSB would let you in even if you were missing two prerequisites. Is Political Science an impacted major at that campus?

@UCorDie I’m also poli sci major, got in UCSB with 3.6, I heard that SB is really strict with pre-reqs.

@btheral I was originally suprised but I contacted the UCSB admissions office who were kind, and provided the explanation that a major factor in UCSB decisions is if you meet the TAG requirements regardless if you signed up for TAG. I am taking english 2 this semester and tag requires you to take it before the fall of transfer. As long as it’s not an indication of other UCs I’m alright with their decision.

Hey nothing is beyond hope! I just got an acceptance yesterday from UCSB. I am not holding my breath with UCLA because they accept only 4% into the theater arts program and they hold auditions in other States as well. I auditioned at other schools and I am happy so far.

I have a question regarding TAP and alternate major. My first major is impacted, but my alternate major isn’t at all. However, I have no real interest in my alternate major, I only chose it because I have finished all pre-reqs for it and it would give me a foot in in case I’m not accepted to my first choice major. My question is, if I am accepted into my alternate choice major and decide to attend, can I later change my major into a different non-impacted major?

@sammycatt it’ll depend on if you completed the pre reqs for the other non impacted major. However I do know that people with missing pre reqs were still able to get accepted into their other major. So in conclusion, it should be fine and easy to change from non impacted to another non impacted based off of what I have seen/know
FYI, I am in the SAME boat as you. I highly doubt i’ll get accepted into my first choice which is impacted. and my alt major is something I have no interest in whatsoever

@trnsfrstdnt Thank you for the input! UCLA is my first-choice school, so I will probably SIR even if I only get accepted into my alternate major, then try to switch majors after a semester or two. I keep telling myself that either way it is only undergrad, and your undergrad major doesn’t necessarily affect your grad school studies. Good luck to you! Hopefully TAP saves us.

haha same! it’s my safety/ 1st choice if that makes sense. I was also really concerned but hey life is a gamble right? anyways, good luck you to you too! im missing 4 major pre reqs for my alt major that I want…hahaha.

I have talked to UCLA reps, and they always make sure to state that it is nearly impossible to switch to an impacted major from a nonimpacted major.

have a question on changing major and double major. If I get in, I was thinking I may change my major to psychobiology, because I’m interested in psychology. It’s not that I dont like biochem anymore, but since im considering double majoring in Economics and Psychobiology. I feel like Biochemistry is too vigorous, esp. since my next goal would be Medical school. Please give some advice as to if I can change major if I get in as a biochem major and also how likely will they let double major in Econ. Thanks!

it’s for nonimpacted to nonimpacted^

Nevermind. Burn me at the stake for my mistake.

No, I said if I get accepted into my alternate major, I would want to change my major into another non-impacted major, not my initial first choice major. For reference:

First Choice Major: Psychology
Alternate Major: Gender Studies

If I get admitted into Gender Studies, which I have no interest in studying, I would eventually want to change my major to either Cognitive Science or Psychobiology, which are both similar to my original first choice major, but are both non-impacted.

Nono if you read towards the end of the praegraph she said for another alt major
