I just made a my.ucla account right now. It shows that I can apply for certain financial aid applications and that I can enroll in summer classes at UCLA. Could this mean something or does everyone see this?
Enroll!
I also got my 9 digit UID number from my counselor while we were going over my tap certification form.
@sammycatt MyUcla login is different from UCLA application status page. Hereâs the link: https://my.ucla.edu/
@psych95 Bummer. Nobody gave me my UID. /: Oh well, guess Iâll just have to keep waiting.
I always felt ECâs were overrated. I had basically none, and the students I spoke to last year during orientation were in the same boat as me. We all had good GPAâs and solid essayâs. I got into every school without any ECâs (UCLA,UCI,UCSD,USC).
Only UC Berkeley do care EC and PS, I know a lot of students rejected with 4.0
@ilikewafflez @luckie1367 I maybee incorrect on this one, but everyone who got rejected in 2012 werenât able to view any fafsa related information on MyUcla
In regards to decisions, I found this on the UCLA Newsroom:
âTransfer students will be notified of admission decisions by April 30 and will have until June 1 to commit.â
http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/ucla-receives-record-number-of-applications-for-2015
So everyone, donât be distraught if you have not heard anything until then.
@CaptainCal that article is extremely old and basically says what their decision notification website says. It says freshman will find out by April 1st, when in fact they found out on March 20th. It says transfers will find out by April 30th, when in fact weâll find out before that.
@CaptainCal hahaha well duhhh
All UCâs admission deadlines are April 30, they all say that as protocol, but traditionally UCLA releases a week before CAL and CAL is confirmed the 24th, they also said mid-late April which falls in the 15th-20th timeframe. It would be effâd up though if they didnât give transfers 3 weeks to prep for bruin day on May 9th by releasing decisions this Friday, since they gave freshman decisions out on March 20 when their bruin day was April 11. Just saying⊠regardless its screwed up they forewarn freshman on the decision timeline with the exact date and transfers get an estimated time. It really makes my butt hurt
Last year, my gf was waitlisted at UCLA but admitted to UCI and Berkeley. She had a 3.73 or something and quite honestly had little qualifications in terms of ECâs. Her PS wasnât anything grand either. That is not to say she is not bright or undeserving, but having lived together throughout our CC years, I can truly say she was so lazy. We were both pretty shocked she got into Berkeley. Her dream was to reject an acceptance letter to Berkeley, and now sheâs attending, enjoying the campus, and doing really well overall haha. She was Psych as well.
Moral of the story: Have no expectations and accept any outcomes.
@CaptainCal Interesting anecdote. Berkeley does seem pretty strange in regards to admissions. Some people are like âIf you donât have a ton of ECâs and a 4.0, you wonât get inâ while other times I hear all these stories of people with low GPAs getting in to otherwise impacted majors? Itâs like, either they like your grades or they like your personal statement. After all, I think they were the one to implement the whole âholistic reviewâ process.
I can almost guarantee I wonât get into Cal. Like, I would be genuinely surprised if I did, Iâd think it was a joke. But I applied anyways, cause you know, what can it hurt?
To those who made a myUCLA account, did you guys check off âNew UCLA Studentâ?
@slee25 Yes, thatâs what I did.
@edwardcruz319 Did you also get your UID from a TAP counselor? Is there another way of finding this? My TAP counselor didnât give these out.
so i logged in, but how do i find the financial aid thing you guys are talking about? and what is URSA?
Question regarding the Tap alt major policy. UCLA tap website states âYour alternate major must have been specified on your original UC application at the time you submitted it. Requests to add an alternate major after you submit will not be considered.â I had specified an alt major on my original UC app. But later requested UCLA to change it too spanish after I had submitted the app. So my question is will UCLA consider my present alt major or ignore it since it was not on my original app. I am Tap certified and Im hoping my goof will not cost me the consideration of my alt major. Any help will most defiantly put me at ease!!
@sammycatt Yeah, I got my ID when I filled out my TAP forms. Unfortunately, I donât know any other ways to get it right now. Sorry
@sammycatt I also did the TAP application with my counselor and he gave me a completed copy of the paper with m UCLA ID on it. I donât know if there is another way you can find it out.
re: middle class scholarship:
Iâm getting one right now from UCI and itâs about $1200 a year(400 a quarter).
