Hey guys! I wanted to start a thread for everyone applying for the Fall 2016 semester as a transfer. This way, we can support each other and help each other out! Here is a little bit about me, or my “stats” as they say:
I am a Sophmore at a community college and I will graduate in May with my Associates in Liberal Arts.
Academic Stats:
GPA: 4.0
Member of my school’s Honors Program
Member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society
Participated in an Honors Independent Study Language & Politics Course
Activities:
Organized a charity drive where over $2,000 and over 4,600 personal hygiene items were collected and donated to local women’s and abuse shelters
Member of my school’s New Student Orientation Team. I volunteered to help organize orientation for new students, gave tours of campus, and was part of a student panel where we answered questions
Intern for my local county’s Democrats office
Member of WolfPAC, a political organization who works to get private money out of public elections and stop corruption in politics. I successfully convinced my congresswoman to co-sponsor and vote for a bill to help this cause.
Organized a Rock The Vote voter registration drive at my school that will take place this Spring
Student coach for two local youth ice hockey associations
Participated in student exchange program to France
Work Experience:
Customer Service Rep for Barney & Dickenson Inc. (A construction materials company)
That’s all I can think of right now. Chance me, if you like. Post your stats, offer advice, or just say hi! I want to get to know the people who are going through the same thing I am.
Do any transfers know if you can apply after one year and not send your high school transcripts? I know if you have 24+ credits they don’t require it, but do they mean completed credits or does American not require them do be completed at the time of application so long as you complete them by the time you enroll?
I also applied for Fall 2016 transfer, turned in application on Feb 8 and haven’t heard back yet…has anyone heard back yet? I applied and was accepted after high school but made the mistake of attending another university. Hopefully I get it right this time around!
The website says decisions are sent on a rolling basis 4-6 weeks after all application materials have been received by AU. So I think we’ll know by mid-March.
Also has anyone received any emails from AU? All I have gotten is one about attending Preview Day…I applied during high school and remember receiving many more emails. Also, I tried the trick of using my AU ID to create a student account, but because I was accepted before I wonder if it’s the same AU ID (the system said I already had an account, but it’s the one I created in high school). Anyone else have this issue? Or applied before already?
I’m having a weird email problem too. I made a prospective student account and I have never received any emails about my application or anything at all.
I applied as a transfer January 7th but the prospective student portal didn’t show that my application was complete until January 21st, when they received my college report and transcript. The 4-6 weeks begins when they get the complete application, so even though I submitted on January 7th, it’s 4-6 weeks from January 21st. I saw a couple of students confused about this on another thread so I thought I should share here to just in case! And I haven’t heard back either, this Thursday is supposed to be the 6 weeks so hopefully I’ll here back this week! Also regarding the emails, I am in the same boat. When I applied as a senior in high school they would flood my email and now I haven’t gotten a single one other than replies from the representative I was talking to.
Did anyone else receive an email today saying their application was complete? I thought mine was complete earlier last month; don’t want to restart the 4-6 week countdown again! I hope maybe since today was the priority deadline, AU just sent out the same email to everyone who applied before March 1.
I just received an email this morning saying that I had to verify my membership in Phi Theta Kappa and they are holding my application until they get it. They said they will make an admissions decision once they receive the verification. I sent in the verification immediately so hopefully this means we will hear decisions any day now!
I applied last month as well, but I believe everything was post marked just by the 7th of this month! Keep us posted on decisions. I’m transferring from a small, private school with a 3.4 GPA. No stellar ECs, but I have a great letter of rec, and have shown a lot of interest in the school. Good luck everyone!
