@SebastianRosiak I peeked at last years transfer thread, and between the TAG round and regular admits a month later, there weren’t any people claiming to be admitted through TAG past the original release date. Not trying to be a downer, as I myself am a TAG applicant who probably won’t be accepted without it. Pretty sure there must have been an error on my app thats affecting it. Might give them a call tomorrow to see at what point I can start the review process over my TAG application as I’m 99.9% sure I have all the requirements covered.
@jp0705 I completely understand, and trust me I am just as anxious haha, I was just passing along some hopeful info from what some of my friends were telling me. The site is under maintenance from 1:20 am - 2:00 am (PST) apparently. So hopefully, that will show. I also, personally, have a hard time believing that they’d only do one round of TAG. I have a bunch of friend at my school who TAG’d and only one got notified today and he was also accepted to UCSB. I think it is just in waves and we will hear soon enough :). What’s your major btw?
@SebastianRosiak Time will tell I guess, but I’m planning for the worst with what I have been given so far.
Computer science.
3.5 GPA
3.0 Major GPA
Major Prep finished in Spring.
All deadlines for English/Math courses met.
60 units completed at the end of Spring.
IGETC while not required, completed.
My stats aren’t good enough to get into Irvine on a standard admission, so I was really shooting for this TAG working out. Do you think tomorrow would be too early to start the appeal process? Lmao, you probably have to wait to be formally rejected before you do.
@jp0705 I understand haha. You have a chance, that’s for sure. If you have solid essays and EC’s that make’s your chance even better. I think you should give until the end of March for TAG to work out. Transfer admissions technically aren’t even supposed to be out until April 1. Give it until the end of March for TAG, then if still nothing you have to wait for a formal reply to begin appealing (went through that process in High school 2 years ago.). Hope that helps, and best of luck to you!
@misskelseyk I’m pretty sure almost everyone who got accepted so far has been tag. Last year, I think most people who didn’t tag heard back on April 21st, so I wouldn’t worry too much about not hearing back from Irvine yet
Here is what I received in my email inbox for Business Major:
UCI is proud to be a supportive and nurturing environment for all students. While you wait to hear back about your admission status, learn more about the many resources that are available to UCI students.
The Transfer Student Hub works with new and returning transfer students to facilitate their transition and overall success at UCI. The center informs students of resources, programs, and opportunities; meets with students one-on-one; advocates for students’ needs and concerns; and connects students to each other through the office and various events.
UCI’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) encourages and facilitates research and creative activities for undergraduates from all of our schools and academic disciplines. Research opportunities are available on campus and with many off-campus laboratories, industrial partners, and other universities.
Okay guys, I’ve done some digging on past threads and think I understand a little bit more about UCI’s rolling decisions, if you look on the 2017 thread there is a guy who posted allll the acceptance and rejection stats for past threads, when they were released, and what the person’s gpa was/if they tagged. Though there were different patterns for 2015/2016 (in 2015 the first kids to get accepted were regents/honors), there were TAG and non-TAG acceptances rolling throughout several weeks of March and April. More kids were accepted from the TAG group in the beginning, but continued to be accepted through April. Rejections came at the very very end of April/beginning of May. Basically, if you haven’t received anything yet, don’t fret. It doesn’t mean anything. Even if you were TAG, you may hear throughout the next few days or even few weeks. I don’t know why they do it like that but that is how UCI releases decisions (according to past threads, that is my only source).
Based on that info, no one should start worrying until the very end of April. Also, these threads may contain some good info, but none of us are counselors and are only giving info based on what we believe to be true, and a lot of the info people have been posting on this and past threads is contradictory to things other people are posting. My best advice is to get off the threads. I’m posting this and then gonna log off and try my best to stay off. It only causes anxiety and none of us really know anything for sure.
