@misskelseyk does this mean that this year’s transfer admits would already know whether they’re honors or regents? Or are they admitted now, and that notification comes later?
Also, just called UCI admissions and the operator confirmed this. Alright, stay frosty friends, hopefully I’ll see you all at UCI in the fall!
Hi everyone!
I tagged and just got my acceptance today! does anyone know what they’re planning for housing?
@ucitransfer2018 today???
yes i got an email telling me to check the portal and it showed i got admitted
@vanoranje we both from OCC, my friends didn’t hear it either. If I get accepted, you probably will.
Probably they release by school.
Did anyone get an email to send in their winter quarter grades when they’re available? Do you guys think this is a bad thing or a good thing lol.
Can anyone provide some information on the major requirements for Computer Science. A counselor told me I do not meet them, I’m awaiting a response but thought maybe someone could offer some insight.
Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in required courses below:
Complete one year of approved college level math, preferably courses in calculus equivalent to UCI’s Mathematics 2A-B; if not available, two semester courses equivalent to other major-related math courses are acceptable
One year of computer programming courses in an objected–oriented or higher-level programming language. For example, Python, Java, C++, data structures, assembly language and machine organization. Object-oriented or higher-level programming language courses that do not directly articulate to I&C SCI 31-33 can be used to satisfy the admissions requirements. Introduction to computer science courses do not meet this requirement.
College Algebra - A+
Calculus 1 - C
Calculus 2 - B+
Comp Sci 1 - A
Comp Sci 2 - In progress
Comp Sci 3 - In progress
My major GPA currently is 3.28.
Are they counting the cumulative GPA’s for math and CS courses separately?
Even in the case of them not counting algebra despite it saying approved college level math, and them not counting comp sci 1 because it could be considered “intro”. Shouldn’t I still have provisional admission as long as after the comp sci classes in progress can make my major GPA 3.0 at the end of spring.
Thank you for any help/advice.
@HuyDang no worries, occ is the best transfer school in the u.s. for sure brother
Sorry I know people are asking this question but I’m going to ask again in case anyone knows for sure what the answer is. I was admitted yesterday for Informatics, and I don’t have the best GPA (3.55) so I thought I would get admitted under TAG. I did do more than the required amount of programming classes, however, which may have helped. Anyway, my provisional contract says nothing about a 3.4 overall or a 3.4 this semester. All it says is I need to have an overall 2.0 GPA or higher. I have completed all the required classes and IGETC prior to this semester, and I’m well over 60 units, so I’m actually just taking classes to learn more skills and because I honestly wasn’t sure if not being enrolled at all would hurt me. So that being said, I know I met all of the tag requirements, but did they choose to admit me as a regular applicant rather than have me uphold the TAG agreement? Unless I am supposed to assume the tag rules apply to me, I just don’t see why those standards would be omitted from my contract. Thank for any feedback and good luck to everyone waiting!
Got accepted yesterday!
TAG MAJOR: Computer Science
TAG: Yes
GPA: 3.71
IGETC: Done
MAJOR PREP: All CS Done
ECs: Internships, Volunteers, Clubs, Honors, Hackathons, Etc.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE CONFUSE WHETHER YOU HAVE BEEN ADMITTED UNDER TAG OR NOT.
I submitted and paid my SIR. Then a few hours later I saw changes in my portal’s home page and I decided to recheck the provisional agreement. How surprise was I to find that my provisional agreement has been updated after I SIR. Now under the agreement it says I have to maintain a 3.4 GPA. Therefore, indicating I was admitted through TAG.
Did anyone get acceptance for Business transfer?
@Kelvin105 The same thing happened for me. I didn’t SIR yet but last night when I checked my agreement it didn’t say anything about a 3.4 GPA but today it had that and the major prereqs that I have to complete.
To anyone who is worried about getting in, try to visit the college if you are very interested in attending. Applicant interest is one of the most important factors for Irvine admissions: https://cdn2.hubspot.net/hubfs/649419/Academic_Report.html?t=1470247981178#level-of-applicants-interest
@UCILover5123 how would that affect admissions though, Idoubt they would do anything if you showed up? What are the steps to visit campus to show this interest? Are you supposed to go to the admissions and just tell them you’re very interested?
Oh interesting, I did my SIR right away yesterday and it still says 2.0. Must not be in TAG then!
when they say maintain a 3.4 is that for the semester/quarter or your overall?
Do we get a welcome packet
For those who got accepted, have you guys seen your financial aid yet?
