Parking is free and I went for all the free stuff lol and pictures XD There will be booths from all the different orgs and clubs on campus (i’ll be repping summer session and socsci peer academic advising so come say hi! ) a bunch of fun activities (them dance teams are on point), info workshops, housing and campus tours (housing tours would be middle earth and mesa court)
If you download Guidebook, it will give you the schedule so you can map out which events you want to go to but it’s a great way to explore the campus and the buildings your classes would be in
@AyGrey They most likely won’t look at your winter quarter if that’s the case. It’s too far into the decisions that they will probably just look at everything else before your winter. Pending grades just don’t get looked at. Just pray and relax from here, there’s not much you can do for this upcoming admission decision. There’s nothing much I can do now either but just keep getting A’s in my classes and that goes for you too.
Hey guys I have a 3.7 and majoring in software engineering, they just added python as a required major course like last summer? I’m taking it right now but I haven’t received my tag admission and I can’t help but feel that I did something wrong? Like maybe because a major required course is still in progress? I’m flipping out
So i got admitted through TAG for CS i believe (i must maintain a 3.4 GPA according to my portal). Are tag applicants still waiting to be reviewed for regular decision?
If it helps, i have not received any communication from UCI about admission.
@darkarchang3l it really is tho! hahahah, thank you so much for your help, i appreciate it. i’ll try to find you (hopefully) stop by & say hi!! what are you currently majoring in?
@riceball123 Celebrate UCI in April is the open house for everyone but there you can also go to the one on May 4th that is specifically for transfers (i wasn’t able to go last year D; ) - come through for both!
@matchamilktea always! and yay! I’m majoring in biz econ! how about you?
@rr0 Hey there! I believe you are confused. Python is NOT a requirement to get admitted to software engineering or computer science or any CS major. On assist.org, they place python as a preferred class to take as they have moved to python in their introductory courses. HOWEVER, you can take any other language to fulfill the requirement.
They say:
“Object-oriented or higher-level programming language courses that do not directly articulate to I&C SCI 31-33 can be used to satisfy the admissions requirements. Introduction to computer science courses do not meet this requirement.”
And you guessed it, I&C SCI 31-33 is python. You can use any other language to fulfill requirements.
Keep in mind that a change in major can take up to 2 weeks or more for approval. I don’t think it’s a good idea. TAG is very strict. I suggest that before you do anything with your major change you CALL admissions and see what they say. Don’t risk losing everything! Good luck!
Well there’s no point really. 80% of transfers won’t get their grades until April lol, it’s not like my case is any different from others. Regardless, they can’t do anything with winter and spring grades regarding it affecting admission. Only up to Fall, including fall. The only thing one could do is perhaps send an appeal with winter grades should one get denied, but out of applicant fairness, they don’t use winter and spring grades for admission consideration. They clearly emphasize that on their site and stuff
