There was one thing I was wondering about: why can the lower boundary of admitted GPA be higher than the lower boundary of enrolled GPA? By logic, the school did not admit any student with GPA lower than the lower boundary of the admitted GPA. Does anyone know explanation to this?
Anyone else in already? I got in few weeks back but just found out about this thread. Congratulations all!
Yo. Im pretty sure it’s because those gpa ranges show the 50th percentile. So 25% of admitted students fall above, and 25% fall below. Theyll never straightup show the lowest gpa ever admitted for a major. That’s why when there’s only like 5 people who applied for a major the gpas are hidden. The enrolled gpa is lower because people with higher gpas will get admitted but then enroll in a “better” school. And people who get accepted at the lower range are stoked and will enroll. This makes the 50th percentile of the enrolled gpa lower than the 50th percentile of the accepted gpa.
Ah. I though that stats showed GPA of all applicants who were admitted. Should I feel safe when my GPA is at least in a top 50 percentile?
Idk man. You’ll know in about a week I guess
Don’t forget to join the Facebook group for 2018 UCI transfers!
@alliot You never know! Be optomistic.
For those who are admitted, was anyone able to see their unofficial award letter? I can’t find it in the portal, and the UCI financial aid webpage tells me to check back on May. I was expecting a preliminary financial aid letter to come out along with the acceptance offer. :-/
@vanoranje that’s what the supervisor of the the admissions told me, they didn’t receive a corresponding application for my tag cause I guess they go by email and like not ur social security lmao but some counselors at my school are going to talk to them cause “I shouldn’t be penalized for a tech issue” so if u haven’t heard from your tag make sure you check you used the same email for both tag and your app
@rr0 Ya you seriously shouldn’t be penalized over an issue like putting a different email…that’s just ridiculous -_- I hope they ignore that issue and process your tag.
@rr0 I am in the same boat as you. I have a different email add on my tag application and my regular application. I called Admission Office this morning and they just told me to change it my email in my application.
Is there an expected day/time for the decisions to be released or all the information that we have is to expect it anytime in April?
Seeing last year’s thread, decisions started coming out on the 19th of April so it should be sometime next week (:
@alliot
Unfortunately UCI is unpredictable. My son( high school senior) got waitlisted even though he had above 50 percentile stats(Econ major,not a highly competitive major like CS , Engineering or other Science majors).
As his brother who had much lower stats got waitlisted last year, I thought he would be accepted.
I would no call UCI a safety school for him, but I thought he was a perfect match for UCI.
