@matchamilktea thank youuu, i’m trying not to stress it because i don’t mind staying at cc a little longer to take the extra classes to meet other schools’ requirements so i can apply to a wider range of schools, i only applied to schools that i met the requirements with the least amount of courses so far since i have so many units and got pushed down on the priority list for class enrollments.
my stats are lower, 3.46 gpa but everything is already finished since last semester. just finishing up some courses for an aa in bio science. also a big upward trend in my gpa over the semesters so i think it’s not so bad being that low but who knows!
but yes, still waiting and most likely will be the 19th. i’m trying to just chill and worry about my courses rn lol ;p very hard.
Does anyone know if UCI looks at your second major if you’re not in TAG? Like what UCLA does for TAP applicants? Or does everyone’s second major get considered? As results are getting closer and closer I’m getting more and more nervous
I am a business administration major with business econ being my alternate. I have a 3.89, but do not have the calc requirement done (Completed bus. calc. instead) I’m not expecting to be accepted, but I have noticed bus econ has a high acceptance rate and a low yield rate. Any input is will be gladly appreciated!
Congrats to those who have been accepted and good luck to those still waiting!
Chance me at this point, and what is the importance of April 19th for Irvine?
2-year cc student
My Stats:
Major: Psychology (B.A.)
IGETC: Done after Winter 18’
Major Pre-Req: Will complete by Spring but one course from the pre-reqs has to be taken at UCI which is called, “SOC SCI 3A: Computer-Based Research.” (Assist.org + UCI Website Indicates I do Not Need To Complete Major Courses To Transfer Or TAG)
UC Transferable GPA: 3.35 after Fall 17’ but 3.46 after Winter 18’ (won’t matter, sigh)
Major GPA: 3.70
Personal insight responses: Strong; discussed depression, loss of a friend due to suicide, being impaired with ADHD and general anxiety disorder, and so forth. I also had to work my way up from a 2.65 GPA after my first quarter at cc. I lastly discussed about how my hobbies in photography, dance, and basketball motivated me to improve my well-being for me to pursue an opportunity at a UC like Irvine.
Ec: I am involved in two internships for my cc, one for psychology where I have to commit to an organization, and one as a TA for my poli. sci. professor. I am also in three clubs which are Philipino Union Student Organization, Psychology Club, and D Political Revolution with TRANsition
@SabPardo You’re in for a surprise. I know a girl that got accepted with a 3.74 for business administration and she took business calc without attempting calc at all. She had no EC’s and told me she rushed her personal essays as well. You never know man, these acceptances can be random! Good luck
ACCEPTED!!! I got my acceptance e-mail on Friday night(4/13).
I see many of you who are looking for the admitted stats for CS or CSE majors so I’m giving mine briefly.
I applied to CS&E with NO TAG!
I’m now attending CC and I’m an international student.
My stats:
GPA: 3.875 (about 60+ units and one C from ESL, the rest are A)
Major GPA: 4.0 (ALL Math, Physics completed and only Data structure is left for CS classes)
Pre-requisites: I aimed for Berkeley and LA so for Irvine, I think I didn’t even satisfy about 70% of it. Actually, many of them were not even articulated from my college.
EC: AMATYC National ranking 16th once, and 1st in my CC several times, CAPSTONE research, School tutoring(Engineering Physics, Calculus, and General Chemistry) several years, and played in intermediate college soccer team for about 1.5 years, and some small volunteerings…
Essay: So So…
Hope those of you who are still waiting for the result get accepted soon!!!
Hey guys, I was just wondering what was helping you guys make the decision on where you will be attending in the fall. I am a Sociology major and I got accepted to CSUF and UCI, and still pending at UCSD. I have no clue how I am going to choose out of the 3 (if I am accepted to UCSD) so I was hoping you could give me some tips on how to decide. Congrats to everyone!
@jensenforthree …this may sound cheesy or repetitive, but I really feel it is true… how you decide is you MUST visit the campuses… once you visit, I feel you just KNOW… yes or no. Visiting really helps you make a quick yes, no or next type decision. I know it can be hard or expensive to pull off visiting them all, but once you narrow it down try to stop by the campus some how (unless it is just too far, just not possible…) It’s a feeling you get on campus, if you can picture yourself there, if you love it, if it feels like a good fit. I know there are so many factors. OTHER things I would heavily consider, compare all the course classes on the website with each other for your major. Which one has better classes or offers more classes that appeal to you for your major. Which one has a stronger department for YOUR major? Also, which one is offering you the best financial aid award package. My advice: 1. Visit 2. How strong is this school for YOUR major 3. Compare Financial Aid Awards… (since they will all be different…) Sometimes it is good to visit a school, just to help eliminate it or bump it up on your list…)
I accepted my admissions offer to UCI sight unseen, but everyone is different. I knew that no matter where I ended up I could do the work and everything outside of actually obtaining the degree was secondary.
UCs have better recognition, but it’s really all about what you are looking for. I know there are departments at UCI where teachers both research and teach practical real world applications, so the old “CSUs are for practical and UCs are for research/grad school” doesn’t really apply as much.
If you are looking for a major party atmosphere, you won’t find that at UCI. It’s a surburban town and it’s safe and quiet (students walk around at 3 o clock in the morning). Most people go to SB or SD to party. There are a few night clubs in the area in Costa Mesa and surrounding areas if you are old enough, but overall UCI doesn’t have the same atmosphere as say The University of Arizona (which I also attended, maybe due to the lack of a football program)
New member here; however, a long time lurker. I though I should post my stats since everyone likes to compare, even me!
GPA: 3.67
Major: Mechanical engineering
CC transfer
LA area
IGETC: done
Applied: UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCB,UCR, csun, csla, slo, Pomona
Rejected: slo, Pomona(waitlisted)
Accepted: UCR(2nd choice material science and engineering), csla
@philosophyCAL thanks so much for the input! I actually visited both CSUF and UCI on Saturday. My mom gave me that same advice haha, I actually liked CSUF more as far as the vibe of the campus. I feel that CSUF would be better for me for my major, but I just worry that passing up on UCI or UCSD would be a mistake because of the reputation of the schools. However, CSUF is a pretty good school in its own right and would probably help me get a job in the field that I want more. Haven’t got my UCI award yet, so we will see. Thanks again for all of your helpful insight!!
@UCIfilm thanks for the good insight. I am from SD and looking to get a little ways away from home and don’t care for the partying atmosphere because I am only there to get my education. I think I am going to try to meet with Sociology people from each school and see if they can kind of sell me on their academic program. Thank you again for your help.
