@biochembbs9 @pharmdream Hey guys I am also a biochemistry major that is applying this year. I also applied last year but had to return home and applied again this year. I think I might have some info that might settle your nerves.
Last year I applied to a lot of schools to be on the safe side: UCLA, UCI, UCR, UCSD, UCD, UCSB, CSUN, CSULB, CSUCI, SDSU, CSUB, and CSULA. I got accepted into all of them except UCLA and SDSU. My UC transfer gpa was 3.26 when I applied and I tagged into UCSB without completing one of the major prep requirements.
I was also missing Linear Algebra as a major prep for UCI but I still got accepted. So even with a low gpa or missing a pre req there still is hope.
I heard from my honors transfer coordinator that If you indicate that you are completing the honors UCLA TAP program on your application, UCR and UCI ask your schools honors coordinator for a list of students that in fact did complete the honors program and gives sort of a "better: chance at acceptance.
Howdy UCI prospects! Just wanted to pass along links to a couple of other UC Transfer threads.

Good luck on your admission results next week and April!
@DrJDogg thank you that helped a lot! I’m so nervous about SB! I’m just worried that my tags revoked and idk what to do. Linear algebra is a major prep at uci? I heard most schools pretty much just want calc 1 done
Well anyways, I hope the best for us all
Do you know if tag people are going to hear back from UCI around mid March?
@biochembbs9 my mistake, I was missing linear algebra as a prerequisite for UCSB’s Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major. For UCI it is a second semester of Calculus, statistic or linear algebra.
They might come out tonite. That is what happened last year and it was a Monday as well around 8ish, So we will see.
@vaneeters last year it came out this early ?
@Vaneeters I hope so
How do we check if our tag is accepted? via TAP or the portal?
yes! my sister was admitted on 3/13 last year which was a Monday to UCI so hopefully, it is either today or tomorrow.
Can you guys also chance me
Major: Biology
Prereqs: all but OCHEM
GPA 3.59
applied : UCLA, UCI, UCB, UCSD
When do you guys think we will hear back?
Probably not until between tomorrow and Friday at best. Last year, my girlfriend heard back today at around 11 p.m.
On their website it says decisions for transfers are made April 1 - 30 though: http://www.admissions.uci.edu/apply/dates-deadlines.php
That may be true, but my girlfriend, her friends, and many other of our own combined acquaintances who did the TAG were notified of their decisions between March 11-14 last year:)
Still none get notified with TAG? Last two years, they released early admission on second Monday March.
@PurexBeliefx5 After submitting received a message which included this:
“UC Irvine does not provide early admission evaluation or early admission decisions as part of its
TAG program.”
I really do hope you’re right though.
The portal says it’s going down for maintenance? Is that normal or maybe it’s a sign ;
And weird…seems like a lot of schools are breaking their admissions patterns this year…
Nothing yet
@yamjand Yes it said that for all my friends last year as well. Perhaps they state that as way to avoid a ‘favoring’ attitude towards students who qualify for TAG. But either way, we will see soon enough. Decisions have been made already, it’s just that they have to sort out and recheck that every decision not only accurately pertains to each of the thousands of individual students, but they must also make sure they avoid accepting more students than there are available seats. Just stay focused on your current semester, keep up your hard work and you will soon find out that it has all paid off when your acceptance is processed:)
