Fall 2019 Transfer

Hi people,

I also want to transfer for the fall of 2019. I am currently a sophomore at a private 4 year institution with a 3.5 gpa. Not the best, but the classes I have been taking are really challenging (chemistry/biology/calculus) so I am trying not to be too hard on myself.

I’m not sure how important my high school credentials will be considering I will be applying as a junior. But, I graduated high school with a 3.42 gpa and 1320 (New SAT). I had a lot of extracurriculars like 4 years of Varsity Cheerleading, lacrosse, president of the Soup Club, and I had a part time job at a deli. I won some awards in cheerleading. I was in the French Honors Society and I also had volunteer work/other job experiences that are less relevant.

In college, I do Habitat for Humanity and other volunteer work. Also, I work as an IT for my college and just completed my certification to repair mac computers (which is cool). However, I have had some unforeseen difficulties during my transition to college, which is probably why my gpa isn’t as high as it should be.

The schools I would really like to transfer to are uconn, st.johns univ (Queens), umass amherst, uvm, and I’m also open to suggestions but I would prefer it be in the Northeast (where I’m from). I go to school in Nebraska now and while it is very nice, I’m not really about it  Money, however, is still a very big factor in choosing. But anyway, do you think I have a shot getting in to these schools?

Apply. If you are accepted and they aid works, then YAY! If you aren’t acceptance, or that aid doesn’t work, then :frowning: but you will have tried.

What is your major?

My major is psychology, some schools on the list have a concentration in neuroscience which would be ideal. Thanks for the reply!

Your chances are strong at UConn, UMass given your slightly above average GPA + SAT and high transfer admission rates. Focus on writing strong personal statements describing your academic justifications for transferring, research the schools you want to transfer to from their websites, and you should be admitted fine.

Thank you! That is very helpful
