Hi all. Shot them (CLAS) an email yesterday and this was their response: The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences received your application yesterday for the Fall 2017 term. It typically takes 2-3 weeks to get a decision after we have received your application since we do review a large number of applications this time of the year. But we will get a decision for you within the next 2-3 weeks if not sooner.
Update: I sent CLAS an email in regards to the transfer credit evaluation process and I received an email back this morning.
"Since UWF is in the common numbering system in the state university system, there is no reason that UF would not accept all of your credits unless you took any vocational or college prep classes. In addition, the majority of your courses should have the same course number and prefix as UF courses. Occasionally you may have a course that has a different “first number”–for example PSY 2012 at UF is sometimes PSY 1012 at other state schools. But as long as the prefix and last three numbers are the same, the course would count as though you took it at UF.
Once you have applied to UF, the Admissions Office will look at your transcripts and any test credit (e.g., AP, IB etc.) as well as your courses-in-progress to be sure you will have 60 prior to the start of the term you are applying at UF. So this is done up front. Just be sure and accurately list the courses you are still taking and/or will take prior to your starting term at UF."
Wanted to pass this along just in case anybody else was worried about credits not transferring and making them ineligible. Still unsure how the process will go since some of my classes have the same titles but totally different numbers, but we’ll see. Best of luck!
Does uf accept hardcopy transcripts? I am asking because i ordered my miami dade transcripts last monday online and according to my application status they still have not received it and they said it would take 3-5 days for them to get it but clearly they have not.
I applied on 1/7/17 and as soon as they received my final piece of info (my AP score report from CollegeBoard), they changed my status to “your application has been transferred to your college…” This was on Friday, so I’m hoping to hear back in the next couple of weeks!! I also wanted to throw out this info for anyone who may have encountered the same thing as I did: when I went to apply for housing after I sent my application, it told me I couldn’t because my housing application from when I applied as a freshman (Fall 2016) was still on my file. I called housing to see if they could “remove” that application or something, and they told me that the application on file was still active and if I get accepted to UF, then the housing application will then say “Fall 2017.” So if you applied last year, your housing app should still be good!
@laura97 same thing happened to me. I ordered my transcripts on Jan.4, called MDC on the 6th and they told me they had sent them to UF. Because I know how well MDC works, I called UF on Tuesday and they told me thry had not received any transcripts. Called mdc right away and they told me if I could go to their office (Kendall campus Building R room 301) to pick it up. I had to buy a samp, certify the envelope, etc. I sent it on the same day, Tuesday 10, they got it by the 12, processed it the 13, and finally my app was transferred to CLAS last Tuesday. Good luck!
Just wondering when your applications changed from the “Once your grade point average is calculated and your eligibility is confirmed, your application will be sent to your college for a final decision” status to actually being transferred to the college after they received all your info. UF received my last transcript that they were asking for as of yesterday, so I’m just curious
@GeoRadioactive Sorry for replying so late but yes, I’m technically a senior status at UCF with 94 credit hours and 112 credit after this spring semester but I’m also technically a freshman as it is my first year as a “full time college student”. Graduated from high school last year. I see that you’ve been accepted. Congrdualtions!! Hope for the best for you!
BY THE WAY!!!
I am the Geology major and these were my stats:
Overall GPA: 4.0
Pre-req: 4.0 by default
Term applied: Fall 2017
Total credits: 68 credits.
I actually had a very competitive application since I had met 5 of their 4 pre-reqs and had taken difficult courses such PHY2048 and PHY2049, apart from CHM2045, CHM2046,CAL1,CAL2, and also General Bio 1 and 2. I also got to send my Cuban HS transcripts, in which I had a perfect 4.0 (unweighted) or more GPA, all courses taken at that institution were AP-course equivalent.
I wish you guys all the best! You’ll see you’ll get in, its just a matter of time.
Hello all. I’m a new member, so nice to meet you all. I’m working on my UF application, and planning to submit it in less than a month.
Major: Accounting
Overall GPA: 3.9
Pre-professional GPA: 4.0
Term applied: Fall 2017
I wonder if anyone is in the same boat with me applying to the Fisher School of Accounting?. Since I’m a non-traditional student (a 23-years-old), I don’t understand the application leaves me a whole box for Innovation Academy program, which I have to write an essay to be considered? Did anyone write that essay or it’s okay to leave it blanked?
@Vincent1111 Man, you don’t have anything to worry about. You have excellent stats. Just like u I’m 23, I’m from Cuba, I lost some years in the relocation process, you know. I think they don’t factor your age in at all. If I were you, I’d apply asap so you don’t have to wait months for an answer. For example, it took 20 days from when I applied to when I got accepted. It actually took 5-6 days for my college to get a decision for me. My point is the sooner you send it, the quicker they’ll get your decision.
For those who were or will be accepted, here’s some important information:
The Admissions Office will be sending you an official letter of acceptance via regular mail. This should take no more than 10 days. You will then be invited to attend a one day orientation and registration program (Transfer Preview) later in the Spring when you will meet with an academic advisor to discuss your transfer credits and remaining requirements. But all of your credits up to 60 will be accepted from Miami Dade and if you have earned more than 60 then we will use the ones that are best for your requirements at UF.
If you want to schedule a phone appointment with an advisor before your orientation, feel free to call (352) 392-1521 to schedule an appointment with a general advisor. If you want to communicate with an advisor in your major, feel free to communicate with Dr. Joseph Meert (jmeert@ufl.edu) who is the undergraduate coordinator for geology majors. But just be aware that you will not be able to officially register until you have attended Transfer Preview.
@GeoRadioactive Thank you so much for your advice! I appreciate it. I’m editing my essays, so they may take 2 more weeks for me to complete. The deadline for Accounting major is April 1st, so I just want to make sure everything looks good. I’m still nervous because the FSA is very selective to get into.
Anyway, I’m from Vietnam. I totally understand you. I had to restudy since I came to the U.S. Nice to meet you.
