Fall of 2017/ Transfer UF

@Vincent1111 you’re very welcome. For us foreigners all this process seems confusing. We had to readapt to new conditions. Since I’m sure you’ll get accepted, I’d like be in touch with you. We’ll need connections at UF, whatever the major. I’m more than willing to share my phone number or email with you. I hope you don’t mind, but Its always helpful to know someone at UF.

@GeoRadioactive Thank you for believing in me haha. Yeah, no problem at all. I’m glad too, and we’re also the same age. (407) 488 5241 is my number. I’m taking 4 classes this semester, then I’ll have my AA degree in April. I may submit my application 2 more weeks.

@Jackey000 hey, I received the invitation to submit and pay ($225) the housing contract, the deadline is 1/30/2017. A had sent the $25 housing application on the 9th, i just emailed them cos it’s late, but I have so many questions that I am going to call them tomorrow morning. Do you want off campus or on campus housing? I do want a single room for myself, I think it’s around $2800-3000 per semester, but I don’t want to throw $225 away and find out there’s no single-room availability. Please if someone knows anything, let me know.

@GeoRadioactive Im not really understanding what you’re saying. Housing contract as in apartment contract?
I’ll be living on campus my first year or at least first semester hopefully at Humes hall on a double just so it would be easier for me to make friends as I don’t know too many people currently going to UF. It’s roughly around $3,500 the last time I checked.

@Jackey000 I want privacy and a better price. Off campus is way cheaper and flexible. And yes, you have to pay $225 for oncampus housing to have a place assured. I just found I lost $25 applying for on campus hosing, because off campus housing is a separate party.

Wait…I’m getting more and more confused. I submitted my application for $25 but as far as I know, I wont be hearing back for a selection till like March or April. Also, yes! Off campus housing is 100% cheaper! It’s just that I may have a different priority than you do. I’m looking for a place with robust proximity to campus so it would be easier for me to make connections either with fellow peers or with professors. It seems to me that off campus is the best choice for you as you want “privacy and a better price”. Look into apartments around UF…the farther away from campus, the better the pricing is and it would help if you have a car…but UF traffic sucks…I would recommend finding a place with an efficient bus system to UF. Also, some buses are free for UF students.
One last thing, yeah…that $25 is not coming back :frowning: sorry man. I feel you as a fellow college student.
oh…start looking for apartments ASAP…fills up pretty quick as a former UF student told me before.

@Jackey000 I live in Gainesville, about 10 minutes away from UF. I can tell you the RTS bus system is EVERYWHERE in this city. It doesn’t matter what part of town you live in.

I got an email from the person reviewing my application asking for me to send an unofficial transcript so he can do the best job possible when he’s evaluating it? Has anyone ever had this happen before? Just find it a bit odd… I did send an updated transcript with my fall grades included in the beginning of January.

The status of my application says that it’s been referred to my college for final decision. I called the college of business today and they told me they dont review applications until after the deadline?? Is this true?

@Diegob17 It may depend on the college I guess, CLAS said they review them on a rolling basis.

@GeoRadioactive so after looking through the things you’ve posted and the dates you posted them, it looks like you got your decision about a week after it being referred to CLAS? Is that correct? Only asking because I can’t help myself from checking constantly and mine has been referred for a little over a week now. I know someone said that a CLAS admissions person told him it would be 2-3 weeks so I guess I’m surprised you found out so fast, but nonetheless, congrats!!

@agw7072 Yes, you are right. I was surprised. I didn’t expect to get a decision so soon. My college (CLAS) only took 6 days (4 business days) to approve my app. It all depends on which college you applied to. Business college usually waits until all applicants have applied to then start making decisions. The college of Engineering starts making decision on a rolling basis, just like CLAS. If you have a very competitive application they don’t delay your admissions decision.
If you go up there somewhere where I pasted what the advisor wrote me, it says something like: “(…) For you, we’ll make a final decision within 2-3 weeks, IF NOT SOONER.”

@agw7072 My advise to you is to contact your college (CLAS) advisor, and be patient. You have a high, almost perfect GPA, there’s no way they’ll reject you. Stay positive and keep us posted. Best of Luck!

@GeoRadioactive do I just call the CLAS transfer admissions chat number or a different number? Or should I email?

@agw7072 I actually emailed them twice, never called them since u know they can be quite busy. I got two responses, one straight forward, too formal and expected, and the other one really personalized saying I would received a decision soon soon. And yes, if wanna call or email, just CLAS transfer advising contacts.

@GeoRadioactive thanks so much, I emailed today and got a response in a couple of hours. Whoever responded told me that if I don’t know by the end of next week, I should contact them. I will actually be in Gainesville Friday next week-Monday so I may stop in to the office if I haven’t heard.

@IWantUF87 Congrats on your academic success the second time around!

@SantaFeAVP Thank you! I have truly enjoyed my time at Santa Fe. I am applying for graduation for Summer 2017 as we speak. I can’t wait to see where I go next!

UF finally got my transcripts today!
