It is with a very heavy heart that I let you all know that David Krost, a.k.a. Fallen Chemist, died yesterday. David had no fewer than 25,130 posts about Tulane here on College Confidential. He was a true friend of the university and loved this place more than anyone. He has been immensely helpful to thousands of prospective students and their parents over the last decade and the Office of Admission is forever grateful for his work and for his love of Tulane. It is perhaps poetic that David’s last act on Earth was representing Tulane at a college fair on Sunday at a small school in Boston.
I’ll follow up with any information that I have. We are saddened by this loss as David was truly Tulane’s biggest fan.
I am so sorry to hear about his passing. He was a wealth of knowledge and unwavering support for the school and for kids and parents at a very stressful time in their lives. He will be sorely missed.
As the mom of a Tulane senior, David, aka our beloved Fallen Chemist was a big part of the entire year leading up to my son’s admission to Tulane. In fact, a group of us who “met” right here on CC met up at The Rum House the night before move in freshman year. Several of us were even wearing tee shirts saying I (heart) FC in honor of Fallen Chemist. I am so sad to hear of David’s passing. He has been a tremendous source of insight, information, and support to the entire TU CC community.
I am so saddened by this news. As a parent of a hopeful Tulane applicant, we valued and appreciated David’s knowledge and dedication to the Tulane community. He was valued and appreciated by so many and he will be greatly missed.
Such horribly sad news. David was such an invaluable resource and helped my son immensely when he was applying to Tulane. My condolences to his family and friends. This forum won’t be the same without him.
