Fax technology query from overseas member

Hi,

I believe the numbers that get input into the tax form pdfs are
font size "9".

I have an old model, thermal paper style, fax machine (at least 10 years old). I am concerned that the above font size may not transmit too well. I did an intra-city transmit (from my fax) and receive (to a remote fax) test, and this font size is just legible. Font sizes 7 and 8
are hard to make out on receipt, and text in font sizes 6 and below are illegible on receipt.

I reside in Asia and am concerned regarding valuable time,
opportunity, money that could be lost if the college financial aid office
comes back after few weeks and asks me to re-send the documents.

a. Has the fax technology changed much to clearly scan and legibly fax-transmit text in font size 6 or less? Is it worth it to buy a new fax machine? The local stores have new printer-scanner-copier-fax where the scanning unit is well-enclosed, and also the open thermal fax type, where they scanning unit may be more susceptible to dust.

b. Will colleges accept electronic scans (I have a recent model scanner) in place of fax? I am assuming this may be convenient, yet not-as-secure option.

c. Are colleges receptive on receiving paper documents before they
ask for it sent via priority or regular mail?

Thanks!

Do you have a professional copy center nearby that provides international fax facility?

Contact the college financial aid offices, and ask them. I expect that in most cases, emailing scanned copies of your documents will be acceptable. You also should hunt around in the software of your computer to find out if you already have the capacity to transmit a scanned document to a fax machine. That could work too.

Arutha: There is no convenient 24*7 professional center from where I could send international faxes. Further it would be an expensive option.
Happymomof1: That’s valuable input. I will look into the same.
Thanks for both your inputs.

I use an efax number so whether I email or fax, I am scanning. Most universities had no issue with accepting my tax stuff by email
