fbla vs. jsa

Well I am interested in both FBLA and JSA for high school, however time permits that I only do one. I know that FBLA is about business, and JSA is about politics, but could someone tell me what exactly do you do in each one? And perhaps which one do you recommend, and which one I could get more enrichment out of?

I think it depends on your school, at my school all FBLA does is plan for their New York trips, while our JSA chapter is very active(mock trials, debating, etc). Iwould reccomend asking members at your school, it could exactly the opposite where you live, or it could be equal. Ask around. Also, which are you more interested in, business or politics?

join fbla...it's about so much more than business, and the conferences are a ton of fun!

of course, i'm biased b/c there's no jsa at my school and i'm pres of our fbla :p

i'm in fbla, but not jsa. i can't recommend one over the other, but i will say that fbla is a good experience. last year, at the state level (california), i placed 1st in computer concepts. i went to the national conference in denver and placed 5th. the competitions are something cool, but nothing major - many of them (including mine) are just multiple choice tests. and i've heard the ones with judges are very subjective.

Is FBLA only about the technology aspect of business?

No, those just happen to be the events that I'm interested in. Other events include the categories of Accounting & Finance, Business & Administration, Business Communications, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership. More info on FBLA's competitive events is available here.
