Now that the thread has slowed down, I wanted to re-post my question…
30 C
32 E
30 M
34 R
25 S
I was hoping for at least a 32…Looks like I bombed the science like a lot of other people. Just wondering, has anyone tried the re-score by hand system? What were the results? Do you recommend it? I honestly felt so good on science and really surprised that I got a 25 since I usually get 30s on science in my practice tests.
@Gunkz123 I was doing your stats…and you would have to have made a 32 in science to pull it up to 32 Composite. Do you think that is reasonable that that many mistakes were made by the machine? That would mean 7 to 8 questions were wrongly checked. With everyone talking about how they were surprised by the science score…it might have been just really harsh on its penalties. I wonder if you should save that 50.00 dollars…and apply it to another taking of the test.
@kikidee9 Since the ACT rounds up a 31.5 I would only need a 30 as the subscore. However, I only need one or two questions to bump the science section to a 26, which would round up to a 31C. I was able to finish all the passages except like the last 3 questions, but made a reasonable guess. I still really do think I did better than a 25 though…Does anyone know roughly how many questions I had to get wrong to get around a 25?
How is it that people are getting a sub score of 18 and 17 on English and still getting a 36? I received a sub score of 18 usage and 17 rhetoric skills, yet ended up with a 35.
Alright, if I have a 28 C, 31 E, 24 M, 34 R, and 24 S, needing just one point on any of the sections to bump myself up to a 29, should I opt for hand-scoring? @kikidee9
Hi guys, i haven’t gotten my scores back and it still says “registered” on the website! If anyone has been in this situation before, can someone tell me when i might get the scores? I know for a fact that I didn’t mess up any of the matching information because I triple checked it.
I got 33 on the September ACT, so it’s just a one-point increase, but I am so glad to have raised my science score from 27 to 31! I’m so nervous about my essay score, especially since my essay was rather lackluster and there’s been a controversy over the grading.
@photogeek8 the essay does not affect your composite score. The essay has its own score and is also used to calculate another sub score that combines your reading, english, and essay. Don’t worry too much about your essay, it’s not nearly as important as your composite.
@photogeek8 we got almost identical…except I got 35 in Reading…twins. @speller95 I read something online today about rescoring. It said if it was for 4 or more in the section then do it. But if less…then may not be worth it. I also found out if they find something that you got wrong that they marked right first time…it won’t be taken down, but can only stay or go up. If they do find something they did wrong, they will refund your money.
@kikidee9 was that suggestion regarding the rescoring only if it’s 4 or more because it otherwise really isn’t worth it to get a few questions back? I got a 32 and even one more question right would bump me up to a 33. Sadness
