I got a 32 on writing! Seeing everyone else’s scores made me really nervous as I wasn’t feeling good about my essay after the test… Here’s to hoping that I keep that score when I take it again in April…
@destined4harvard how do you know you did not miss any in english? hope -1 will be 36 as well. This was first time taking act.
@zindabad -1 was a 36
Still no scores… but I do have an interview to distract me tomorrow at least
@144444 Do you remember how many paragraphs your essay was? And did you explicitly state how your ideas address the given perspectives?
@photogeek8 I wrote 5 paragraphs. My body paragraphs each addressed one of the perspectives and either provided an example supporting my position and the perspective or a counter example to the perspective that supported my position, but I did not explicitly state which perspective. If I was arguing against one I said “although some people may believe (idea from perspective),” and gave a counter example. I honestly don’t know what the graders are specifically looking for as this was my first time taking the ACT.
Mu subscores were 10/10/11/11
S got writing score posted today. 25. He was not expecting a lot, so I guess this is OK. He got a 36 English and 36 Reading subscore, and is an excellent writer, but didn’t feel like he got deep enough into the topic - having written his conclusion and not being able to go back and fill in some more info.
Tips for future writing test takers - LEAVE WHITE SPACE between sections so you can fill in more later if need to. If he had done this, his score would have been higher. I’m not too concerned though, I think writing is the by far the least important part of these tests and likely ignored by colleges - especially with all the changes for Class of 2017 for BOTH SAT and ACT.
I got a 21 in writing with a 35 in English and a 33 in reading. I was worried after reading a lot of the posts and I guess I was right to worry. I thought I did great on my essay, atleast good enough to get a 30. I’m definitely ordering a rescore. But since I’m a senior I don’t think it would get to my colleges in time
Here is another example of strange writing scoring: D got 36 in English, 36 in Reading and 19 on her essay. She loved the prompt, is used to timed writing, and thought she did very well on the essay. I am not sure what she should do!
I got a 35 composite (English 36, Reading 34, Math 34, Science 36) but ended up with a 23 on the essay. I thought I definitely did better than last time when I got a 27 so I’ll probably get it re-scored.
I was told by my teacher to state specifically which perspective I was talking about on the ACT essay (perspective 1, 2 states…) but from previous tests and from people talking about the essay on this thread and elsewhere, it seems that it might be better not to address them specifically. Does anyone have any ideas?
@academic07 Why on earth would you get a rescore if you are senior? Colleges are not going to get updated scores. Save your $50 - 21 is not bad…80 something percentile.
I got a 29 in writing - is that bad?
@fairagoura No- that is great.
Still Registered… Has anyone who’s still waiting for scores changed to “tested” today?
Me!!
Do you know what time it changed?
I’m still registered. Hoping I get it at midnight still…probably not lol.
how do we find out the score report of what questions we got wrong?
like questions we specifically got wrong
You can’t, except for the some test dates where you can pay $20 to get your test back.
