Am I the only one feeling terrible about rejecting other schools’ offers? I keep feeling like I am going to regret It although the school I’ve committed to was my top choice.
Perhaps you have a tender heart. Don’t let it bother you. They Know they won’t be able to pull in every student. It’s built into the %age they accept. Move on and enjoy yourself in college.
Yeah I guess I’m a bit sensitive lol. But you are definitely right
This sounds more like buyer’s remorse than a tender heart. (no offense, OP). You can wait til close to May 1 to decide for sure. Go to accepted student visits at your top few if you can. You would probably lose your deposit (sounds like you already made one) if you change your mind, but it could help if you want to be more sure. Because it is before May 1, you should be able to pull back a rejection if you want to.
This is totally me too. I’ve met my admissions counselor everywhere I applied and they were such nice people who all have been writing me personal notes so I feel like I’m rejecting them when I say no to their school.
In the end every person can just attend one school so if you have an affordable acceptance you are happy with then move forward with a huge smile.
As much as accepting an offer is opening anew door, it also effectively closes some other doors. Pretty normal feelings in the college decision process from what I understand… good luck!
Think of it this way: you’re letting someone else who may want it more to attend that school.
