Posting on behalf of my D, she does not go on CC.

D, a Junior in 2010/2011, would like to find a situation where she could take over a room or shared apartment for spring 2011, possibly from someone who is doing study abroad that semester. D is going abroad in fall 2010.

Previous arrangement has unfortunately fallen through.

Please PM if anyone is interested or has info. Thanks

This is a choice to consider. A new sorority SDT is just becoming established. I saw on Facebook ads for rooms there. I do not know about room availability a semester in advance, but it might be something to investigate.

A renter takes no part in the sorority, one is a renter. However, the rooms are luxurious, food is fantastic, baths are marble and a person can use all the amenities in the house.
Safety measures are the best. There is a resident housemother.

A renter would be on the row and use a bike or walk to classes.

Thank you Georgia Girl. I will relay the info to my D to investigate. Although my D is not a sorority girl, this may be an option if the house takes renters of rooms. I do know she prefers an apartment with only one roommate, I would like her to look into this.
Thanks again!

Sequoia,
Since your daughter is on campus she could visit the house and see what the rental rates would run per semester.

I am sure they could arrange for her to look at a couple of rooms if there are still some openings.
For safety and cleanliness this could be a good option. As I wrote she would be apart from the sorority activities. Their website is on the net. The chapter may list the amenities in the chapter house.
I know of one sorority house that has AC, small workout room, laundry facilities, outside patio, flat screen TV, mini kitchen for the weekend, computer/study room, fire sprinklers, intercom system, alarms and some parking spaces.
