-Popularity of Cricket(The Sport)
-Televisions with satellite connection in students' rooms
-Internet connection on campus
-Can ' .torrent ' files be downloaded on campus?

Thanks

Well i forgot to add a factor
-Popularity of Video Games

Plz Reply

nobody here knows about cricket or at least they don't talk about it. My TV cable right now is broken and it doesn't matter cause I have better things to do here than watch TV. The internet is fine. If you make your college decision even partly based on the ability to download torrent files.... blehhhh. popularity of video games.. well there are some nerds at the corner of our hall that play super smash bros till 5AM and i got awakened yesterday because the losers next door to me were argueing about chuck norris. if thats your thing, theres a crowd for everyone here. Guitar Hero just came out for XBox 360 so i just started moochin off people for that.

yea..cricket...never seen it.
i'm pretty sure we don't have satellite..i know we have al-jazeera, asian channels, and some european channels but that's about it for international channels. yes you can download basically anything but there's a limit of 500 mb each day. i'm not sure if that's the room or for each person. yea lots of games, you can always meet people and play with their games, if you have a ps2 or something bring it and you'll make friends.

there's a group that plays cricket on the south quad every saturday. and i mean EVERY saturday (somehow, I just can't understand the drive to play cricket in the freezing cold). video games are so popular, it sickens me sometimes (like hearing the guy behind me in class whine about spending time with his girlfriend over fall break when all he wanted to do was play this new video game...riiiiight...). If there's a place on campus where you CAN'T get internet...I have yet to find it. You have time for tv? wow...I'm still working on finding time for things like eating and sleeping.

I have a friend at UIUC and he says there are no blocks on the internet at all.

However, there is a 750 total INTERNET transfer limit (which means any time you connect outside the campus, the sum of the upload AND download is limited to 750). This means if you wish to torrent, you are limited to a download size of about 375 (because you share a ratio of 1:1). Also, do not download anything illegal - its not worth it.

After 750 MB you get rate limited to dialup speeds. That happens too often and they will cut you off for a week.

The limit applies per COMPUTER. So if you have, 10 computers in your room, each one gets its own limit. You are allowed switches/hubs but no routers.

EDIT: Forgot to mention there are no limits on incampus transfers. So sending large ISO files to your buddy down the hall doesnt effect your limit
