So this year is my last year in high school and there is only 3 months left. I applied to vcu,uva,gmu,Jmu,cnu,odu,vtech, and Ru and I have gotten accepted so far into gmu,odu and vcu in the last 3 weeks. For the other colleges I will find out in late March/early April. By the way my GPA for this semester is a 3.98( my best) and overall I have a 3.77, even though I got one D in calculus. My questions are do colleges focus more on the GPA or the latter grade? What are the chances that the colleges that accepted me will revoke the acceptance? And since the other schools will see my transcript with the D on it, if they accept me does that mean I have to get at least a D or higher?
I would really like to know what you all think about my situation especially if you’ve been in a similar situation.
What does your provisional admission contract state from each school? Is there an expected GPA and/or specific grades needed in your Senior year classes to maintain your admission?
Usually they are pretty vague… you should talk to your guidance counselor about next steps and anything proactive you should be doing. I assume you mean you got it first semester of senior year and the schools that just accepted you already had a mid-year report – is that the case? And the schools admitting in late March should have that mid-year report as well. Or are you talking about something after the mid-year report was sent?
@Intparent you assumed correctly
@Gumbymom they did not say on their acceptence letter what grades i need to maintain.
You have a 3.98 with a D???
I would talk to your guidance counselor about when the mid-year report was sent. Assuming it was sent in January, then you have to think about whether any of the schools that already accepted you sent their acceptances before they got it. But if it is in the mid-year report and it has been sent, then the colleges have what they need – they will let you know if they have an issue. If they accept you and got the mid-year report before that (especially if they got it at least a week before the acceptance), then you are probably okay at that school.
