Sorry guys for the stupid question, but do all colleges require senior grades to be sent to them? I'm asking this because my senior grades are a few points worse than my combined gpa of 9-11. Do all colleges or only certain ones require them? I've check my schools' websites to no avail - I can't find anything on sending senior mid year grades. If you know whether the schools I've listed below require them or not please give a helping hand :o)

I believe most colleges will request that mid-year grades be sent to them, even if you have already been accepted. Once you have decided to enroll in a specific college, they will also require end of year transcript to be sent to them. In most cases, I believe, the guidance office of your high school will automatically send the mid-year grades to all colleges you applied to. However, that being said it would be wise to ensure that is the case with your individual guidance counselor.

If you check the Common App site and go to (I think) "Your College List," then click on the name of a college, a new window should pop up, and in that window will be a little box listing the required forms. If the "Midyear Report" is not on that list, you're free and clear for now.

We visited JMU yesterday and asked an admissions counselor that question. My D was hoping they would request them since her GPA went up quite a bit. He said to send them but it was clear they weren't going to request them as a matter of course. Now, if the decision to admit is a close one, I would imagine they might ask. My D is having her guidance counselor send them to everyone - even the schools to which she has already been admitted.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't use the common app for any school, so I don't think that feature would work for me, unfortunately. I have applied to every school, but I haven't received decisions from any of them (probably because I applied in December). My uw gpa was 90 up until this year, but for senior year I'm looking at 85-87, most likely closer to 87. I think I might just go ahead and send my grades out to every one of the schools (to be on the safe side) - since my school places you in charge of handling applications, transcripts, and grades. But I would rather not send them in if I don't have to - I dropped physics and I have a C in pre-calc (albeit a 86 on the midterm) but I have a B+ or higher in every one of my other classes.

If more then one school has requested the mid year report does guidance need to fill one out for each school or can they fill one out and make copies? My daughter's guidance counselor will not be happy if she has to fill 6 out!

If they have different forms, they'll want the info in their own format. To OP---the info is probably online on the admissions site; or do you have a checklist? Some of D's schools required it; others said don't send unless we request them...(and the requests didn't mean anything---she was accepted to all the midyear grade optional places.

Today I went in to the guidance library and I asked one of the head ladies in charge and she said that I should just send them out to everywhere I haven't been accepted yet. I guess I'll do just that to play it safe.

Also, a separate question. Just now I went on JMU's site to check my status and I was curious to see the "verify sat and act" option. I had expected to see only my SAT's on there, since I only sent my sat's, but they also have my act score on there!! I took the act only once and got a most undesirable score, so that's why I didn't send them out to colleges. However JMU lists that they received my composite act of 22.... How did they get a hold of this? My school didn't send this correct? Does this mean that all the other schools I applied to received my act score?!
