When applying to the UCs, I end the spring semester with a 3.9 and 55 transferable units. I am worried that I’m not going to be considered because of this. However I did add my 4 AP scores that added up to 14 transferable units and listed that under additional comments… Am I good?
Also I listed that one of my English requirements was “Not planned/Not completed” because my AP Language score covers my English 100 prerequisite but I did not state that anywhere on the application. I just submitted my AP Scores and that’s it… Am I screwed for that as well? Ahh!!!
Someone help me feel better about my application!
You should be fine with the AP credit counting. Does you CC count the AP credits? Do they repeat any courses you have taken (i.e AP Psych score of 4 and Psych 1 grade)?
I’m not sure how the “transferable unit” system works, so I can’t speak to that question. In answer to your second question, I had a similar problem a few weeks ago - I forgot to report any of my AP scores, so it looked like I had failed the tests and didn’t want the results to be shown. I spoke with my school’s college counselor, who had the e-mail addresses of some of the admissions representatives at my target schools. He said that if I e-mailed them within the next few weeks explaining the situation, it would not be a problem, and they would add the new information to my application.
Hope this helps! You should probably speak with your counselor tomorrow morning.
Wait, why in additional comments? There was a place on the app to list AP scores.
Maybe he means he added them to TAU comments, having left it out of app?
UCs should include AP credit based on each campus’ policy, which may differ from your CC. CC policy on AP credit can matter for IGETC.
I’m not a counselor, but I think you ought to talk to one about this. If I understand you correctly you checked the “not planned/completed” button, but a post a while back from an official UC Davis college rep seems to indicate that you should have checked completed. See http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/424187-english-requirement-on-application.html
Again, let me reiterate that I’m not sure about this, but it would be a good idea to check with a xfer counselor
Yes, I did list them under the AP section. My only worry is that I will not be considered because it officially says that I have 55 semester units and I am under. I want it to come across that I do have credit for my AP scores here at my community college that puts me above 60.
I will discuss the English requirement with my counselor. Thanks for the suggestion!
To answer luckie1367, no my APs do not replace any course I have already taken.
