I filed my fafsa too late because i graduated high school early and didn't know I would be going to college this spring. I'm only 16 years old and have a 4.0 GPA and my EFC is 0. I'm supposed to go to college this January but didn't file my fafsa until July 25th. So it's been almost a month and i haven't heard anything back. I got the SAR that was sent to my email a few days after I filed but not an award letter. I checked the status online but it only told me it had been processed. I know your suppose to file as early as possible after January 1st, but like i said i didn't know i was going to college this year. I have no other way of paying for college and have applied for numerous scholarships but I haven't won any. Also when i went to the schools website and clicked on the financial aid information it says "The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be received by the federal processor by March 31 in order to be considered for the financial assistance programs. Late applicants should be prepared to pay fees with other resources." Is it too late to receive any grants?

Since Spring admits sometimes don’t get great aid, you might reconsider and apply to schools for NEXT fall.

Your late filing will only net you “entitlements” (pell, subsidized and unsub stafford loans. Federal work study SEOG,FEOG,Perkins loan and most institutional aid will have already been disbursed in addition to any opportunity programs you may have been eligible for. Talk to tour financial aid office as it may be in your best interest to defer until fall. If you do, make sure u file the Fafsa and any state aid forms on 1/1/12
