I'm interested in transferring universities to major in Film. I'd like to transfer to a larger city on the east coast with a large film/cultural scene.

I'm hoping someone will be able to give advice regarding potential universities that meet that criteria.

Thank you very much.

hi im looking to transfer to a school with a strong film program as well. (currently at uc berkeley - don't go here for film studies) depending on your particular interest in film, nyu might be what you're looking for if you want a heavy production program. there's also vassar and wesleyan (wes is a little more on the film theory side, however, but still strong). me, i want a little more well rounded with combined liberal arts/production (since my interest is screenwriting), and i also wanted that global, cultural environment, so boston university is currently at the top of my list.

I'd agree with the previous post. Tisch at NYU has great classes that are wonderful for learning production skills, as well as tons of classes on other aspects of film making. If you're more interested in screenwriting, Tisch has a major in Dramatic Writing. However, NYU isn't known for giving very good financial aid, and Tisch gives even less aid than other schools within the University.

you're right about the lousy fin aid - actually i was accepted to tisch's dram writing program for freshman admission, but i just couldn't afford it, it was too production based for my interests, and plus nyc i thought would be a little overwhelming for me, but many others probably handle it fine. nyu is really an individual taste.

Yeah--I'm not sure I could handle NYC. Any other suggestions?
