Fin Aid wants MORE info from me...? Why?

So I applied as a transfer to my colleges and got into a few, but my first choice's fin aid office is now requesting my DD-214 (proof of military service/discharge papers).

It was never required by them and I was told explicitly by the people at finaid I had everything supplied that was required.

The Admissions people did however want one, which I provided especially since I was gunning for a new tuition waiver for veterans that the college is implementing this coming fall.

But NOW, two months after everything was fully submitted, financial aid NOW wants a copy of my discharge papers (dd-214).

Can this be taken as anything besides, "I'm in and finaid needs to verify I am a vet before I'm awarded the scholarship"...

Just give it to them

obviously I will turn it in, the question at hand was WHY do they want it now. would a school waste time and money on someone who wasn't accepted (and yes the decisions have been made already, they just haven't been mailed)

You'll get your answer shortly.

You can also call them.

Hakuna matata

I think that means you're in.
I've seen many cases like that before. They ask for your finaid info/ or offer fin aid a few days before the decision is released, and then when you get your decision, you're in.
It may be a bit early to congratulate you, but it's definitely a good sign. Good luck :)

awesome, i was hoping to hear from someone who has seen something like this before...

I know this because I'm actually waiting to get a fin aid offer myself :(
I've read from past years threads that you get an fin offer via email before the official decisions are released... (from this school I applied to) and so far I didn't get one...

i think it can only be good news. although once i had the same letter from a college asking me to send more documents for fin aid consideration, only to get a waitlisted letter eventually. but it might be different for transfer applicants though.
