Final Decision Cal Poly Pomona vs Cal State Fullerton

Okay well I have a problem and I need it solved by this Thursday. I got into CSUF for Computer Engineering and I got into Cal Poly Pomona for pre-vet. All engineering majors are impacted at Cal Poly Pomona so I do not know how hard it will be for me to switch. So should I go to CSUF and major in Engineering there or take the risk of going to Cal Poly Pomona and trying to switch majors and maybe not getting it

Did you contact admissions at CPP to see if it is possible to switch? And what are the steps needed to change??

You’re not getting into the engineering major at Cal Poly Pomona. It’s too competitive and there’s not enough space available. They make it extremely hard to transfer into an impacted engineering program, even from different engineering majors (industrial/manufacturing).

CSUF isn’t really known for engineering…at all. I’ve never even heard of an engineer that went there. We had our career fair at Cal Poly Pomona and there were many companies looking for engineering majors. Tons. Why did you not apply directly to engineering? I feel like that was a huge blunder on your part.

For engineering you obviously want Cal Poly Pomona. You need to base your decision on facts not speculation that you see here on a CC forum. My kid goes to Cal Poly SLO and the systems are similar, but different enough so that you must contact the school. Here is a link and you must contact CPP to verify. This document will help. Computer engineering is listed on the bottom of the first page: http://www.csupomona.edu/~academic/programs/docs/ChangeMajorReqHandout-2013-14_Final.pdf
