Finalist Notification

I was really hoping we would have heard something today, but still nothing. I'm getting so impatient. Please post here when you hear something.

Ours came in the mail today…such a relief! My son is homeschooled so it’s the “notice to the school” version with the actual certificate inside.

We’re still waiting for son’s notification in Texas. Nothing yet!

Congratulations to your son, GAMom! Does he know where he’s going to college?

Congrats to your son, GAMomto4!! We are still waiting to hear from my son’s HS in Missouri. It IS hard to wait!

We haven’t heard yet either, but since she didn’t get a rejection letter, I’m not giving it much thought. It is much harder waiting almost 2 more months for college admission decisions!

My son heard at school today that he’s a finalist.

Congrats PPP! Does he know where he is going?

mamabear1234, agree that at this point it is assumed, but… I will feel better with that letter in hand  D has her heart set on a school that is dependent financially on her getting the scholarship associated with finalist. It will be nice to no longer add the qualifiers like ‘pretty sure’ or ‘most likely’ when asked where she is headed.

Also agree on feeling confident. However, we have two important scholarship apps to send in and want to wait until DS has the finalist notification to change his status from NMSF to Finalist.

D had a couple apps due by Jan 31 so she noted NMSF (finalist pending) as we figured that anyone reviewing would be familiar enough with the process to understand that notification was outstanding but yep, that’s another qualifier that I would like to remove.

waiting in texas…

My son hasn’t decided yet but he’s given himself a deadline of the end of February.

Our student’s school counselor told him that the school expects to hear “first week of February,” which has four days left. I suspect the school takes a bit of time to organize telling the kids, especially if any were not finalists. But, since there have been no rejection letters, we choose to be optimistic!

@mytwods DS has chosen Auburn. Not as good a scholarship as it used to be but he loves the school!

I told my D that is she had the chance to wander by the office and ask  Just a simple, ‘Any word on NMF yet?’

My daughter was notified of finalist standing at school yesterday, 2/4/13.

Funny. We got a call yesterday asking if it was okay to interview D for a feature on the district website. She was chosen “because of her accomplishments.” I wonder what those accomplishments might be? ;)

Congrats SGM!

Notification came in yesterday’s mail here as well since we are homeschoolers. D has 3 schools offering significant merit aid for NMF and it will be very difficult to choose one and sad to close the door on the other two. She is so grateful for the opportunities this award offers. I hope the rest of you hear sooner rather than later.

We’re waiting for news here, as well. Can’t send the final love letter to college of choice until the NMF is (hopefully) confirmed. Kid has an interview with said college today, and would love to talk about NMF but will have to reserve bragging for another time. My general advice on this anyway is “be humble” so I think the news will come after the interview for a good reason!

All these children are so fortunate to have talent coupled with the self-discipline and temperament to take a test and do well. Congrats to all you NMSFs and families. Job well done.
