Finally got the decision - Rejected.

Well looks like I was rejected. I don't know if they they even looked at my application, the rejection letter was mailed on April 7, 2010. It simply says "there were a lot applications and after careful consideration we regret..." Nothing has changed online.

I was really disappointed when I saw that, and I think its because I applied to SOM. I had my heart set out to go to Binghamton and I had a 3.9 GPA with almost 60 credits. I guess they do look at your past heavily (stony brook grades were bad but from years ago due to medical issues which I clearly explained in the essay after that I got at least 53 credits of As with 4 credits of B+ and 3 credits of B at a CC)

How would I know what the real reason was? After this term I will have 74 credits with a 3.93 GPA (I applied with 60 credits @3.91), and I wanted to apply again for Spring 2011, does that mean doing better means nothing? I'm also in two honors societies....

Has anybody every been rejected from SOM and somehow gotten the committee to change the decision into Harpur? Do you think they can still consider me for Harpur if I call and ask or am I out of luck? I only applied to two schools like an idiot, and haven't heard from Albany either and now I am really scared my past will always haunt me even due to medical issues. Like I basically topped out my grades in CC, if I can't get into anything, whats the point?

Unfortunately, Admissions won’t be able to tell you why/how they came to their decision. To my knowledge, they do not reconsider applicants for a different school @ Binghamton after a decision has been made. Unless they sent you an email with an offer to be reconsidered for Harpur, it unfortunately will not happen.

jringo - if you were trying to transfer into bing, it may have been that there were just no spots available for you. It may have had nothing to do with your grades.
