Hello everyone, I am currently a junior in HS and am considering adding NYU (Stern) to my list of schools. I plan on majoring in both Finance and CS hopefully, if not Econ and CS. Would it be better to apply straight into Stern or apply to the CAS School for CS and then attempt to transfer to Stern?

If you have the grades I say just apply to Stern. Have you looked into the information systems degree at Stern? The program is kind of small, but all the profs in it are pretty amazing.

I applied to CAS for CS. CS department has majors like CS and econ, cs and mathematics, and stuff like that.

What is CS?

Computer Science

Be aware that if you're in CAS, you CANNOT major in finance. If you're in Stern though, you might be able to double major in CS (I honestly don't know if you can fit all the classes in - that's a question for an academic advisor).

If you want to major in CS and finance, apply to Stern. If you really primarily want to do the CS degree and just kind of want to chuck in the business classes so you have a fallback plan when you graduate, apply to CAS & double major in econ. Transferring to Stern after you matriculate is possible, but I think it's a dumb idea to commit to NYU without even knowing if you can actually get the degree you really want :
