Congrats bologna95, you are lucky to have such a good instituion in your home state.

Got mine today. I received 2/3s of my need!

@lion0924 Are you instate or out? Just curious.

Also, will anyone OOS try to ask for a reassessment?

Basically, anyone instate accepted to Tech will qualify for the Zell Miller scholarship which requires a 3.7 core GPA and a 1200 cr/m SAT. This pays for tuition only, not fees. Pretty good, but not nearly as good as the HOPE used to be!

@stkdu55 I’m in state

oos No aid letter yet. When I go to view my aid letter for the 2014-2015 academic year, it says:

OOS, EFC is ~7000 according to fafsa

No aid awarded at all. What a joke.

@immasenior, you should call FA office. It sounds like a mistake. You should definitely get federal aid with that EFC.

This is ridiculous… about $8000 in ETC, but not a penny of scholarship.

Thought I would resurrect a financial aid thread from last year. Looks like end of March into April financial award letters will show up in Buzzport it batches.
Does anyone have any experience with GaTech’s “financial verification process”? I mean, logically it must mean that there’s a decent amount of aid being considered (I hope, I really hope…)
Basically, Tech sent me an email asking for me to fax some documents to them. My income is really low, so I understand that they’d want verification for it. But are students selected for this process likely to get decent aid? Thank you!
The verification request just means they had a question about your financial aid application. It has been my experience that students with really low income are asked for it to confirm their low income. The verification has no bearing on meaning that you “are likely to get decent aid”. Based on last year, out of state students do not get great financial aid. Most packages were all loans for OOS at Tech. In state students get the state tuition scholarship provided they meet the grade point average requirements. Tech is not know for great financial aid.
However there are ways to make it affordable. Earnings from co-op and going aboard are two such ways. Good luck. Be sure to submit your verification by the deadline.
I forgot about the Goldbold scholarship (I may have it spelled wrong) which is a merit scholarship where an OOS student has fin. Need so it is a non-loan form of fin. aid for the OOS that is not loans. It is limited to certain states and you have to have a very high Sat.
