Financial Aid Award Letters Have Arrived

We were notified via email today that financial aid awards are in my DD's Buzzport. If you log into buzzport and click on "financial aid award letter" which is on the left bottom of the page you can see your award letter. Scholarships given out by the local alumni clubs are also included in that letter so it covers merit awards.

Good Luck to everyone.

No email and no letter :(

So is this all of the aid we will be able to receive for the upcoming term, or is there more to be distributed?

All the aid.

any oos happy with aid?

Nope. I’m going to have to decline admission because going would put me in more than 100k worth of debt.

I’m in the same boat as you jshore. Need was $34,000 and I got $8,000 from them.

Same boat. Son got $6000 for the 2014-2015 year.

Yeah, whole lot of loans… not much in way of grants.

But I have to say, they were pretty close to the “net price calculator”, so no false advertising there.

So if we weren’t notified today does that mean we won’t get any financial aid =(

has everyone already received their letters? I’m oos and haven’t been notified

I think they are releasing their decisions in batches. GT does not have a gigantic endowment like some private schools, so their policy on OOS is similar to UVa’s and UNC’s – OOS students do not get much aid, and what they get is mostly if not all loans. Therefore, I did not expect much. However, I was thrilled that DS did get some scholarship money, plus an opportunity for federal loans. They do what they can for the OOS kids.

There might be some additional scholarships later on but they won’t be very substantial ones.

will the GT mail the letter to you ?

No they are in your buzzport account.

Loans: $43,690.00
Scholarships/Grants: 0$
Thanks for the great offer Georgia Tech! I mean I would have thought you could at least find $5,000 lying around for an oos student, but nope. Nothing

Nobody likes loans, but if you check around, you won’t be able to find a better college loan deal than the federal ones. For a lower middle class student, they can mean the difference between going to college and not going at all. I am grateful that GT offered my S and I the opportunity to get those loans. But yes, we’d be way over $100K in debt after 4 years. Our in-state school does not offer the engineering my S wants, so he’s GT bound and yes it’s expensive. We will deal with it.

Only got 6k, rest in loans as OOS. Still planning on going here.

My son is still waiting to receive his award letter. Judging from the tenor of those who have received their letter, we’re not expecting much, if anything.

My daughter is an in state student. With work study, she received a full ride.
