I got an email regarding financial aid today too.

Apparently last year people were talking about how the statuses of the financial aid items online are also an indicator. What does it say for the statuses of your financial aid items?

The consensus last year was that “received and satisfied” meant that they had created a financial aid package for you and that you will be accepted, but “received-review in progress” meant that you were wait listed (if you received the financial aid email). Not everyone followed this though (some said satisfied and were wait listed, some said review and were accepted). Also many people had their status change right before decisions were released, so this isn’t a very good way of predicting the decision, especially this early.

All my IDOC info has had the “received-review in progress” status since Feb. 19. Does it usually take this long to review the financial aid documents?

thats strange. I only have to send my css profile and it is “received and satisfied” since Feb 03 isn’t received - review in progress better since it means they are looking at it?

Don’t international students also have to send their parent’s income documentation?

I was contacted about a week ago. Just one email till now and it seemed very very generic. Said some stuff was missing and asked me to check my financial aid status. On checking, I found that a new category had popped up. I mean, earlier, the only thing required was the CSS Profile which I had sent. Now, it is asking for Parents’ income statements.

It said these documents could be emailed or faxed. So, I emailed them as attachments. Didn’t receive any reply yet; neither was my financial aid status updated. I was just thinking…most colleges say they do not open attachments in emails. Does it hold true for Dartmouth as well?

So, what is the general consensus. Is everyone with missing documents receiving this? Or is this some sort of an indicator?

BTW, my CSS profile status is “Received and Satisfied” and trust me, it has been so since the beginning of Feb! (I submitted CSS in Jan). So, it is probably not an indicator since they wouldn’t really even glance at applications that early, right?

Everyone’s CSS says satisfied bc we assumed they check everyone’s before decisions are made. The statuses that are important are the IDOC documents statuses. We can assume they check to make sure they are satisfied for only accepted students bc it takes a lot more work to go through all of it compared to CSS.

You should submit signed Income and Benefits Statement from your Parents’ employers directly to the Financial Aid Office via email or fax. These statements should include the total amount of earnings for calendar year 2013, taxes paid (if known) and benefit allowances. Statements from employers must be in English or translated copy must be attached. You may translate these documents.

Otherwise, your parents should complete the non-filing statement. You can obtain the form from the website at <a href=“Home | Financial Aid”>Home | Financial Aid;

@JimmyAtparadise I know I have to send 2013 income documents but I already explained to them that it comes out in May. So I guess I can;t have the hints from financial aid documents

Now I just feel terrible 'cause I haven’t got the FA email and everything except my css profile is “received-review in progress”. Meh

@Vesper0723 are you an international student? my css profile shows “Received and satisfied”
no unsatisfied parts

I submitted my parent’s preliminary income documentation for 2013. However, it doesn’t show on the application website. It doesn’t show any unsatisfied requirement either. It only says that my CSS has been received and satisfied. Should I contact them and ask about this? Or should I wait because they would probably contact me if something is missing?

@book05 …you should probably email them. How did you submit the documents, btw? if by fax or snail mail, you would want to make sure they reached…

lol they literally sent me another email like five days they sent me the first one - and it says the exact same thign
what gives

@Conscience13 I sent them by mail but I am pretty sure they got them. I think I will not contact them. They will probably email me if something’s missing and it’s unlikely they will need that information anyway as I’m probably going to be rejected.

@book05 …Come on!!! Don’t draw any conclusions from this. Just an email reminding them that you sent it. We will see what the reply is.

@Conscience13 haha I love your attitude and thanks for the advice! Still, I’ve got so much to do at the moment and I just can’t get myself to email them. I was so happy to be just done with applications!

Does anyone’s status say “received and satisfied” for anything besides the css and fafsa? Does any of your IDOC stuff say “received and satisfied” yet?

I’ve received the following generic financial aid email for four times within three weeks:

Although the Admissions Committee is still deliberating, the Financial Aid Office is currently reviewing Class of 2018 documents. We want to ensure that when candidates are selected for admission, we will have sufficient information on file to make a financial aid decision. Your application is currently incomplete. Please check online for detailed information.

If you have recently supplied the requested information, please allow at least one week for this information to be processed and logged in to our system. You may check online at any time to see the status of your application.

Last week, I submitted the required documents by email.

Anyway, what does it mean? Does Dartmouth send generic financial aid emails to all students regarding missing documents for many times?
