yea, 12K per year right...

looks like I"ll be paying off loans till im like...you know, 86 or something.

congrats on your dean's scholarship!!!! I only wish I could've gotten a sliver of something like that, or if my parent(s) had worked there, or a grant....

but no.

can I request for a larger loan?

Krisiitina, Good luck with your financing for USC, hope that it works out for you, and your parents.

I saw where you are from. I remember that area. I grew up in Palos Verdes (near Malaga Cove). We then moved up above the "Pennisula Center" (which was near the top of Hawthorne Blvd - not sure if it is still goes by that name?) - to an area called Del Cero. Used to be a Radar Base up there in the 60s's and 70's. Not sure if it is even still there. We loved the South Bay. Spent many many summer days at Rat Beach, near Torrance Beach. Good times.

My son is hopefully going to be at USC next year. We are looking at our Financial Aid package, and trying to decide if we can make it work.

Good luck to you.

Any chance your parents would allow you to live at home your first couple years out of college? It's not the optimal choice for many, after being so independent in college -- and that plan would limit opportunities to work in another city or state -- but if you had no significant overhead and could work and put a couple thousand a month toward your loans, you could pay them off in relatively short order, or at least get them down to where there's a manageable small amount left, and move out then.

It's not how most of us think about life after college, but with the steep expense these days, that might be an alternative for some.

I am so incredibly happy. I just got my USC fin aid information today through Gateway.

I was pretty frustrated with USC especially with their delays on the official letters to some students on this forum...

But I called and the guy told me that my fin aid would be up by Friday and voila. There it is...

With the fin aid I am getting... USC would a bit less loans than Berkeley. Hooray.

With all my loans, im paying 5280 a year

I guess I'm getting loans for the full tuition costs.

i havent gotten my financial aid package yet. is it because i havent sent in a copy of my 2005 taxes? all my other private colleges (miami, syracuse) have sent me financial aid packages, regardless

yes, if you haven't sent in your 2005 taxes, you will not receive your finaid. BTW, for those of you who turned in the finaid late, you will not get as much financial aid as you would have otherwise.

Hi everyone I've been gone on spring break but I'm back (yay. school.)

lovetocamp--That's so awesome you lived in PV! I actually live near the Peninsula Center currently and yes, it's an awesome place. I go to Rat Beach and Torrance Beach all the time in the summer or even on nice days, very fun. You must miss it--I know I will!

PBKmom-That's definitely an option. I just haven't even thought of that yet because it's so far ahead. My Dad has just been warning me to get a good job so I'll be able to pay off all of my loans; I'm not worried about getting a good job after college (cmon, it's USC), it's just that I don't want to be in like a $50,000 DEBT! scary.

bmanbs2--"With all my loans, im paying 5280 a year" I. am. so. jealous.

so I don't know what to do. I can't believe I did this, but I picked up my UCLA acceptance letter today, just thinking maybe....(ew I know, right?! UCLA?!) Great school, but it doesn't have the program I'm looking for (no Marketing, have to apply for Communication). I could transfer, but from where? I would rather not go to a JC (it's not bad, I just would rather go to a college). I could simply rely on scholarships, but can I really?

I can't believe I'm reconsidering.

I turned in my stuff about a month late (right after i got my acceptance letter (around march 18th ish) but i still got a generous amount.. so if you haven't done it, i would do it ASAP~!!!
