Well, the gamble to apply ED I to Tufts while needing aid paid off, they covered 91% of all of my expenses, I got a grant for $39,000/yr...I am INCREDIBLY happy right now. :)

omg really?!?!? im kinda in the same situation now with the whole gambling thing?
if you dont mind me asking what is your financial situation?

hah! thats huge! I know you were on the fence about for a while about applying ED due to financial concerns, but I guess it worked out. Congrats!

wow, that's great you were able to get that! congratulations.

^ Thank you, as an update, they also reduced my deposit fee to $100 instead of $600 because my parent contribution was <3,500 (3,200), however, my mother and I have no contact with my father, nor have we received any child support from him in 15+ years, so they waived the non-custodial parent form. Tufts is awesome!

The financial aid is truly impressive, although I can't say I'm enjoying it since I'm footing the full bill :)

^ Hehe, I understand :p

Did you get what you wanted immediately? We are trying again and they still haven't met our needs. They want us to contribute 9000 and my son to contribute 24000 and the rest loans and work study. My son applied ed and got accepted and now not sure we can afford to send him. He has money put aside for him from a relative but that is all he has. Our combined income is 60K Any suggestions?

dynabod...did you tell teh college your son had savings or money put a side?

Wait a second, they want your son to contribute 24,000 and you to contribute 9,000...that makes absolutely no sense at all, unless your son is the Premier and you're his servants, just kidding, but my contribution was roughly 1,200 and my parents 3,200....with my mother's income of ~$38k, there must be a decent amount of money set aside, or something, I just don't understand the situation for them to make your son contribute so much.

Unfortunately a relative left money for him and we didn't want him to have to spend it all in the first two years at school. We are trying to avoid having him pay back so much tuition for the last two years in loans.

Anyway. Congratulations to you. You should be extremely happy. Good luck to you in school.

Yes we did.

Well, that's a situation you would simply have to call them and speak with them directly about said situation, I wish you good luck, and I am sure Tufts will work something out for you. :)

thanks for your help

im sorry for asking all these questions but how much money did you tell the school your son had saved up?! im not asking because im nosy im asking because im doing early decision 2 and am extremely nervous about my fin. aid.
