whsswim, so does that mean you only pay like 17,000-18,000 total? that's awesome!

^ im pretty sure that EFC is for ONE year. They only give you financial aid package for the upcoming year, because they said it will be subject to change in future years. Sophomores-Seniors can take out more loans, and tuition might increase as well.

As for me- I was really expecting an EFC closer to 0, but yes the CSS definitely screwed me over. Because my parents are divorced, I live with the parent who does not claim me on her taxes, because she barely makes anything. Thus it complicates so much and then plus my mom is remarried..but stepdad is out of the country for the last two years... My financial situation is thus VERY complicated..I was expecting a coupled thousand EFC, but 8500-9000 might be stretching it just a bit. We shall have to see though! Good luck bqwe04! Let me know how your finaid package works out. =]

lh - yeah, we'll be paying right around 17,000... possibly less, b/c some of their estimated expenses are definitely higher than what I'd pay, especially the travel ones. And yeah, it's pretty sweet :)

Thank you everyone for posting it gives me something to think about as I await our package. I hope it comes tomorrow. They only received my tax info last Monday though.

yeah, it kind of scares me though because my EFC is about 21,000, and my mom said that if our contribution at ND came out to be 20,000 or less (the expense of going to a UC), then she'd be able to pay for me that year. Is this possible or are we looking at more? :[

did anyone who got their imfo apply rd

hah, our EFC is like $70K (from the FAFSA -- not accurate at all...) and I got $3500 in loans and $2400 in campus employment...

Considering I'm getting $24K/yr from another school, it's gonna be hard for my parents to take the $6K instead.

= /

3,200 in scholarships
2,400 campus employment
4,500 loans

haha so much for receiving "preferential financial aid consideration"...

run what was you EFC? Now I'm scared

We live in CA and like chisoxgirl22 had a completely unrealistic EFC from the FAFSA. The package had $2000 in WS and all the rest in loans...

run, the preferential aid basically just means less loans - which you kind of got, since most people got 6,500. I got 5,000 instead of 6,500, which made me happy

Kr, im not sure but ill check with my parents. My dad has all the forms and stuff at work.

and thanks for the info whsswim...that does make more sense now.

Yes, please update us with your EFC, I'm kinda confused about this whole financial thing with ND :(

i just got my package today, i have an EFC of zero
and here is the break down of my package
Scholarship 33,000
Pell Grant 4,310
SEO Grant 3,000
Work Study 2,400
Perkin Loan 4,000
Total 46,710

now u no where i am going lol

Congtrats Bq. Still nothing here in NY maybe it's the snow? Run r you from CT?

Wow! Everyone~thanks for posting your stats and efcs. We, like you KR123, just sent in the tax/W2 info, so I am not expecting anything too soon. But, it does seem a bit scary that if your efc was high (unreasonably or not) that there is not much help. Our efc was high (crazy), but mostly due to a "good year" just last year-not the norm! So, I wonder how it will all go... Anyone else with a high efc get their package? Congrats to all and good luck to all still waiting for decisions and aid info.

Nothing again today so I called they said by the end of the month. I was hoping I would get good news for my birthday (tomorrow) oh well. I hope they are busy gathering up all their pennies for us (some $$$ too)

yeah, i live in CT. Our EFC was in the $30,000 range. I'm very fortunate since my parents are willing to pay the money but it's going to be a strain..especially with my brother applying to college two years from now. I'm hoping that I get some local scholarships to make the first year a bit easier.

Thanks Run so did you decide definately on ND? You should be proud of all your accomplishments. My daughter looked at Fairfield and pretty much got a full ride but "there's nowhere else but ND"

Thanks, Kr! I have to agree with that last statement (I visited the campus about three weeks ago and had an awesome experience). I'm going to wait a few more weeks to make my decision (after I haul myself down to DC to see Georgetown). Buttt ND would be very very hard to turn down.
