Financial Aid Packages Are Out!

Please correct me if I'm wrong,

I'm planning to go to ND this fall if everything falls into place, but our EFC is kinda high and my parents know for sure that they will not be able to pay that much for all 4 years; I'm going to be filed as an independent after my first year. Will this impact my contribution (since I'm not dependent and all) at all or is it different because it's a private school?

Any other EA waiting for their financial aid?

^ Hi Kr. Yes, I'm still waiting too. I had to send in another form last week, which I'm guessing is delaying my offer. It should come soon enough, though. And until then, I guess no news is good news? Hehe, best of luck!

Yes, KR, we are still waiting. I called the office a couple of days ago and they had received the tax forms etc. They said it should be together by the end of the month...so, I guess we still wait. I am getting a little nervous though, seeing all those good packages. I hope we get a little help!

ih2007 - how are you going to be 'filed as independant' next year? For financial aid purposes you are only considered independant if you are one of the following: 24 years old, working on your masters/doctorate, married, have a child who receives +50% of his support from you, both parents are deceased, you are a member or veteran of the armed services. Unless you are one of the above you will not be considered independant for financial aid purposes.

ARE YOU ALL Early Applicants? has anyone heard who is rd???

well i got a letter a about a week ago telling me that i needed to hand in some household form so my financial aid app could be complete. that's all ive heard from the financial aid office. and im RD

I just mailed the extra documents they requested. Our EFC is well over COA so I'm not expecting anything, but somebody told me to apply anyway as it establishes a baseline for later years.

efc ~36,500
5,000 scholarship... =</p>

i can see what they mean by meeting 100% of our need, but i really don't think they really considered anything outside the #s

Nothing yet hope they haven't spent it all

Still nothing!!!! I am a planner it's hard being kept in suspense

Finally they said it was put in the mail on Tuesday fingers crossed

Still waiting here in the Chicago area! Although, daughter's friend got what she called a "generous offer" just a couple of days ago. So we still wait...

Thanks I'm not alone. I had a big envelope in my mailbox yesterday so I got excited but it was from another school. I hope today. I am really stressed about paying for all three of my kids.

I'm thinkin it's going to be today and tomorrow (depending on where you live)

Oh, I really hope so...the waiting game continues! And, it probably won't be much anyway!!! Please post if you get something today~our mail is the slowest here...usually delivered around 5:00! Thanks!

There was nothing today in Kentucky.

Nothing today in Massachusetts

Nothing in Indiana either

I called financial aid today and the lady checked and said my son's was sent today. I'm in northern Indiana, so hopefully tomorrow.
